i work as a technician within the local heath authority's wheelchair service. my duties are to prepare, modify and repair manual and powered wheelchairs. i have just worked on an EPIOC (electrically powered indoor/ outdoor chair)for a client who complained of electric shocks when they used their wheelchair. normally we would fit an anti-static strip in such a case (which i did) -but i am not entirely convinced that this a cure for the problem. i had a look on the internet and came across your web page on the subject. an excellent piece of technical information- and advise which we can use and pass on to our clients. many thanks john john feeney <john.feeney@doncasterpct.nhs.uk> doncaster, UK - Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 07:47:33 (GMT) Hi, I am a non-medical advice worker here at a specialist neurology and neurosurgical hospital. I mainly come into contact with people with acquired spinal injuries, eg spinal tumours, cauda equina, spinal lesions from MS, GBS, etc. This site has helped to educate me and I will certainly refer people affected by spinal injuries to it. Working with a spinal nurse specialist, we have set up a support group in the North West of England for people affected by Cauda Equina Syndrome and we have had three successful meetings already. Do you know if there are any other such support groups for CES? Cheers and thanks again, Tony Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) tony murphy <tony.murphy@thewaltoncentre.nhs.uk> Liverpool, UK UK - Monday, December 31, 2007 at 14:34:41 (GMT) Hi, Good site I just wanted to get some feedback from possible visitors regarding the usability / look , etc of our new DDA & Occupational Therapy website. Kiran Hi I've just been to France with my disabled brother-in-law and despite not having the use of his legs is more 'able' than half the people I know. The nutter is about to buy a barn in France and convert it for himself (and any other disabled visitors) and he'll be doing a lot of the work himself! I am what I would call a functional paraplegic due to 3 1/2 months of rehab and most sites don't even talk about levels of paralysis-only complete paralysis. Even doctors do not always understand it. He is paraplegic and has taught me that the only paralises is in the mind. Site was so useful in giving hints on how treat wheelchair users. Any new users to the site please keep in mind that losing the use of limbs doesnt change who u are and there is a wonderful life ahead of u once u can keep a sense of humour. I've linked apparelyzed to the disability retail category in the Canadian disabled individuals web site. Ron Canada - Monday, September 15, 2003 at 18:35:08 (BST) Well, the sites up and running, no doubt there will be a few minor changes to the layout over the next few months, but I'm sure you get the idea. What do you think to the design, are there any area's you think I should add to make the site more usefull? Webmaster UK - Friday, September 12, 2003 at 09:34:23 (BST)
