i work as a technician within the local heath authority's wheelchair service. my duties are to prepare, modify and repair manual and powered wheelchairs. i have just worked on an EPIOC (electrically powered indoor/ outdoor chair)for a client who complained of electric shocks when they used their wheelchair. normally we would fit an anti-static strip in such a case (which i did) -but i am not entirely convinced that this a cure for the problem. i had a look on the internet and came across your web page on the subject. an excellent piece of technical information- and advise which we can use and pass on to our clients. many thanks john john feeney <john.feeney@doncasterpct.nhs.uk> doncaster, UK - Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 07:47:33 (GMT) Hi, I am a non-medical advice worker here at a specialist neurology and neurosurgical hospital. I mainly come into contact with people with acquired spinal injuries, eg spinal tumours, cauda equina, spinal lesions from MS, GBS, etc. This site has helped to educate me and I will certainly refer people affected by spinal injuries to it. Working with a spinal nurse specialist, we have set up a support group in the North West of England for people affected by Cauda Equina Syndrome and we have had three successful meetings already. Do you know if there are any other such support groups for CES? Kiran Hi I've just been to France with my disabled brother-in-law and despite not having the use of his legs is more 'able' than half the people I know. The nutter is about to buy a barn in France and convert it for himself (and any other disabled visitors) and he'll be doing a lot of the work himself! It is a large private villa just built for the wheelchair person in mind. It can sleep 8-10 and low ramped doorways and a solar heated pool with a water powered lift. The villa has 2 master suites (bath ensuite) and 2 further bedrooms as well. A group of friends can share the cost. It has 4 baths total with one leading to the pool which is a wheel-in with a waterproof chair provided. From the screened in pool area you can see a great view of a private lake and might see Wally the Gator! I have many photos available to email for any who are interested in a holiday here.
