Forum Rules

As this board has grown, to the point where there are a considerable number of messages being posted everyday, I thought it would help the board to stay focused if the following were observed.

By joining this forum you are agreeing to follow the rules below. These rules are subject to change without warning as the forum develops. If you have any problems with the forum, you can contact the me through my Profile.

Important Member Information

Make sure you use a valid email address when you register. You must not use anyone else's email address when registering, there are plenty of free email address services where you can get a free email address such as Hotmail.

If you do not keep your account updated with a valid email address, your account will be considered to be abandoned, and will be deleted.

If you register as a member, please join in on the discussions in the forum, as inactive members may be deleted after a certain time period when we review member activity.

This forum is NOT for Wannabes, Pretenders, Devotees or those people with a fetish for wheelchair users, as such members of society may be perceived as being insensitive by those with a spinal cord injury. If you are identified as such, your membership will be terminated without warning, and your posts removed.

This site is not a dating site, if you repeatedly use the Chat Room and Personal Messaging system for the purpose of online dating and solicitation of messaging of a sexual nature, the administrator reserves the right to remove posts, and ban offending members at their discretion without warning. Posts or Personal Messages requesting photographs or videos of an explicit nature will be regarded as inappropriate and removed, after which the administration reserves the right to terminate the offending members account.

Duplicate/Multiple Membership Accounts

Under no circumstances should any member have more than one account on this forum. If any member logs in, posts messages, or sends personal messages from two different accounts, this will be seen by the administrator as being deceptive, and as an unethical use of this forum and may result in an instant ban. If any member is found to have two or more accounts due to technical issues, the accounts with the oldest log in dates will be closed, or the accounts will be merged at the Administrators discretion without warning.

The member account you use should be only accessible by yourself. Under no circumstances should you allow anyone else to post messages using your account. There is no excuse for allowing someone else to use your account, as this site is free, and registering is very quick and simple. Allowing someone else to use your account is a bannable offence.

The use of programs to conceal members IP addresses is strictly forbidden when using this forum. Any attempt to deceive the Administrator by using such programs will result in the offenders membership being banned.

Commercial Registrations

If you are a company related to the theme of spinal cord injury services, and register with the forum, you may only include your company link in your profile if you add a return link back to Apparelyzed on your website. Duplicate posts advertising products will be removed.

Do not use the Chatroom or Personal Message system to advertise your products.New goods are not allowed to be advertised in the forum, only secondhand goods.

We prefer your link to look like the following, with the included description.

Apparelyzed - Spinal Cord Injury Support

Spinal Cord Injury Peer Support is all about members helping members. Often, talking to someone who has suffered a spinal cord injury, can give a "clarity of vision", and allow the maximum potential of an individual be achieved.

Chat Room Use

Please note that access to the chat room will only become available to new members after they have contributed a minimum of 10 posts of informational value  in the discussion forum. Please do not just make 10 posts of emoticons or three word replies, they will be removed.

Personal Messages to Members

When sending a personal message to another member, there is currently a limit of 1 message every 1 minute. This is to stop the sending of mass personal messages by spammers. To prevent malicious use of this system, all private messages sent via this forum are logged and the contents recorded and available to the administrators if required.

Cap Lock

Please do not post messages with the subject or post all in capital letters, or your message will be deleted. Words posted all in capitals are not only annoying but are read 50% slower than normal writing.

Off Topic Messages & Duplicate Posts

If you post a message, please make sure it is posted in the appropriate forum. This helps to keep the forums focused, and makes it easier to find topics. The forum will be tidied up, with off-topic posts being put into their respective forums once a month. There is no need to inform the administrator about off-topic posts.

The posting of duplicate topics is not allowed. Please choose the most appropriate area for your topic. Duplicate posts will be removed, leaving one post in the area that the Administrator feels is the most appropriate area.

Posting URL's / Web Addresses / SEO

Please do not post just a url or web address in relation to a reply or new post. This is not helpful, as just posting a link without a description will be considered as link spamming, and the post will be removed. The reason for this is that the reader will not know the destination of the url/web address without clicking it, a technique used by spammers.

Do not post your website address at the bottom of every post you make. It will be removed. Use the signature function in your profile to display your website on your posts.

Keyword spamming of posts or signatures is not allowed. Any post, signature or profile thought to be submitted for the sole purpose of keyword spamming will be either altered or removed at the discretion of the Administrator. Topics, profiles or signatures posted for the purpose of linking keywords for the purpose of Search Engine Optimisation will be edited or removed.

Keyword linking for website promotion, either directly, or indirectly via search engine result manipulation is not allowed.Posts which are made for the sole purpose of promoting a website, which are in direct or indirect competition for web traffic with Apparelyzed, may be either removed or locked at the discretion of the Administrator.

Topic Titles / Descriptions / Content

Please make the topic title and description as relevant, and precise as possible. If any topic titles or descriptions are posted which do not accurately reflect the content of the post, the forum Administrator reserves the right to alter the post's topic title and description to reflect the post's content more accurately.

Please do not capitalise every word in a topic title, sub title, or topic content, as it is considered as shouting, and is difficult to read.

Do not use the forums to settle personal disputes. Any such posts will be removed. Topics which degenerate into personal insults will be removed at the discretion of the Administrator. If a member is deemed to be only posting to provoke an argument, then the offending member will be banned at the discretion of the Administrator.

The content of private messages must not be posted in the forum without the consent of the author.

Offensive language will be either removed or substituted for more acceptable language at the discretion of the Moderators.

Editing Posts

After making a post, changes can be made to the post for corrections up to 6 hours after the original post date.

Notice and Takedown Policy

If you have a valid reason for objecting to a post, you should contact the Administrator with the URL of the post, your name and address. Upon receipt of a valid compliant the material will be temporarily removed from the Apparelyzed forum, pending an agreed solution

Post Hijacking

If a member posts a message, please keep your replies on-topic to the subject being discussed. There's nothing worse than reading a subject, only to find it has deviated onto a completely different topic half way through. If you have an off topic reply to a post, please use the Personal Messenger in the members profile to contact them privately.

If posts deviate too much, the offending posts will be deleted or split to keep the integrity of the message. This is a discussion forum, posts within a thread which are on topic will not be removed due to differing opinions. If opinions become offensive, or off topic, the administration reserves the right to moderate threads at it's discretion. Trolling guidelines apply to replies.

Forum Trolling

An Internet troll, or simply troll, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

The administrator at his discretion, reserves the right to ban such Trolls, and moderate the Troll's posts which are felt to be posted purely for argumentative purposes.

Pinned Topics

If the administrator feels your post is "worthy", then he reserves the right to "Pin" certain topics so they stay at the top of the topic list. The duration a topic is "Pinned" will vary, and is at the sole discretion of the Administrator.

Searching The Boards

Once you are a member, you will be able to use the search function. Before posting a topic, please use this function to see if someone has already answered your question. This will help reduce the number of duplicate posts on the boards.

Restricted Forums

The Relationships & Sexuality forum. Only members over 18 years of age have access to this forum.

This area is not a dating area. If you use this area to send repeat messages looking for dates, the administrator reserves the right to remove posts, and ban offending members without warning.

The members area is where heated discussions will be placed when it is felt they are not suitable for public viewing. Please note that posts in this section will be closed after 6 months of inactivity.

Posting Images

Attaching an image to your post is preferred rather than linking to an image on another site. That way, if the image is attached to this forum, it will remain with the post forever. If you link to an image on another site, the image may be deleted by the web site owner, and all we will be able to see is a blank image with your post.It is known that imageshack and photobucket sometimes delete their images after a certain time period. So please, just upload your image using the attach function.

Posts with missing images may be deleted. Please note the following picture requirements though before posting.

Maximum uploaded total picture size = 200Kb
Maximum width = 600 pixels
Recommended Resolution = 72dpi
Recommended file type = JPG

If your file size is too large, it will not be accepted by the server. Try compressing the file to decrease it's size. File sizes can be reduced in most image/graphics programs.

Once you have posted your image, your image will show as a Thumbnail in your post, which when clicked, will be shown at full size.

Please try to restrict the number of images you post, as each image uses up valuable bandwidth, and costs money to display. If you post an image at the end of a post which we feel has no relevance to the message, it may be removed to conserve bandwidth.

Signatures

Members are allowed to put information in their signature, but the signature length is limited to 250 characters per line, with 2 lines maximum. If signature code is not formatted properly, and shows in the signature of a member, the Administrator reserves the right to remove or change the signature so it displays properly.

Please do not put large images in your signature. As a guide, signature images should be no larger than 468 x 60 pixels and a banner format is preferred. Images over this size may be removed.

This limit is to help keep the board clean, and stop large signatures cluttering the board. If a member wishes to show additional member information, it can be placed in the "About Me" section of your profile. Signatures which are used to promote websites by Keyword linking will be either changed to reflect the link destination, or removed at the discretion of the Administrators.

Member Warning System

The new member warning system has been introduced. It is a way of warning a member at the discretion of the moderators, that their behaviour on the forum or chat room is not acceptable. If the offending member has violated the forum rules blatently, and the offence is serious enough, the offending member may be banned without warning.

When a member is warned, their warning level in their post profile will increment. The member will also receive a personal message and email explaining the reason for their warning.

The warning bar is divided into 5 blocks, therefore one block is 1 point. The following restrictions will be applied at the points shown.

1 Point - Warning, no punishment.
2 Points - 24 hour posting suspension and chat room suspension.
3 Points - 72 hour posting suspension and chat room suspension.
4 Points - 1 week posting suspension and chat room suspension.
5 Points - Banning of account.

If a long period of time has elapsed since the last warning, the moderators reserve the right to decrease the warning level accordingly. Members can only see their own warn level, and not other members warn levels. All warn levels start from 0, an empty warn bar.

Member Harassment

If any member abuses the Email or Personal Messaging system of this board to send messages of an unwanted sexual nature, upon receiving a complaint, the Administrator reserves the right to review all personal messages and chatroom transcripts, and terminate the offending members account without warning.

If a complaint is made against another member, the Administrator reserves the right to investigate the complaint, by analysing email and personal messaging logs held on the forum server.

The Administrator reserves the right to ban any user at any time for any reason. This is a private forum and the ownership will do whatever is necessary to preserve the quality of the site and forum. Users who continually disrupt the community with allegations, accusations, or activity that is not in the spirit of the purpose of this forum will be removed without explanation.

The stalking of any member of this forum will not be tolerated. If we receive information that someone is being stalked, then every method we are aware of will be used to stop the offending member accessing the Apparelyzed site.

Do not use the forums to settle personal disputes. Any such posts will be removed.

Banned and Closed Accounts

If any member is banned, or wishes their account to be deleted, they may make a request to the forum Administrator. However, by registering with this forum, you agree to let this forum hold all your posts until we feel they are no longer required. Upon a member deletion request, we will change all information in the member profile, and change the user names, login names and passwords.

Spam

All spam will be deleted from this board. If you feel a post is spam, please report it for review so appropriate action may be taken. Please do not make multiple posts, multiple personal messages, or multiple emails to members containing the same post, as this will be considered as spam, and may be removed.

If you are affiliated with a company, do not pose as a customer or member to promote the website you are affiliated with. You will be banned, and your posts removed. The Administrator reserves the right to remove any posts, and delete any members at any time without warning for posting messages advertising companies in the forum.
