I had a blood clot at T3 that bled out leaving me paralized from the chest down in May 08. Ever since then I am having problems with retaining fluid in my legs. I can take my lasix for a few days and it the fluid goes away but I have to cath about every 2 hrs. It makes it almost impossible to go anywhere without the fear of peeing on myself. Does anyone else have this problem and what is the best way to deal with it? It is driving me crazy and keeping me at home. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
I'm a t4, same cause in Oct 06. Have gone from 10mg lasix 4x day to currently 40mg at breakfast. It seems to be working, but I need to plan to be in the bathroom about two hours after breakfast. Other than that, things seem to be under control. Am taking part in a botox experiment which basically paralyzes the lining of my bladder to keep it from spasming. once again, knock on wood, it seems to be working to the point that I ic about every 6 hours and can almost sleep all night without ic.
Talk to you urologist and see if he can get you into the study. It's called the dignity study and Allergan is the sponsor.
good luck
