Going In for a trial test in the morning.
Ive shared just about every pain expe-

Its been about ayear and 11 months
of terrible pain,I dont know how much
longer I can take it, hope the trial test

T let me know also bud, I have fought abdominal pain for 12 years now. Along with terrible spasms. I have been on All kinds of meds with OXy helping me right now. But i GET flare ups that throw me off schedule and the pump may be my answer too.

Well, just got back home from trial.just a quick run down
I did find about 30% of pain relief and no relief for numb-
ness,but to my surprise I did not have any spasms.Ionly
had one side affect and that was itching,notso sure what
to do about it.I do plan to have the pump implanted,will
update just as soon as possible.Also no relief for burning

Hi, the itching you feel will go pretty quickly as soon as you get used to your new med. Itching is a definite when people start taking opiates. I'm sure your not new to them but I bet they subside soon.
Could you describe a bit about your new med.... how it works, how the morphine comes etc? A pic would be ace.

Seriously,the itching will stop,but only because you will be developing a tolerance.Sorry about that.

Hey Lucky,The Precedure consist of inserting a small tube into the spinalcord witch is attatched to a pump that is placed under the skin in the belly area and then controled from the hospital. IM pretty sure you must see apain management docter and go in for atrial test to see if it is an option for you.

My husband has been told that his only hope of pain relief is either the morphine pump or the spinal cord stimulator, would love to hear more about the type of pump used, as we are going through a spinal clinic (it's linked with the public hospital) but they seem to have the older and cheaper products, would love some info for comparisons. We can acess the private hospitals but that would mean we have to pay big money (which we would do if it ment a better option)

Before the morphine pump trial, Ihad the spinalcord stimulater trial and that didnt work because I had to much scar tissue, but Ihear that works for some people, good luck on whatever descision you make.Iwould like to hear how it goes for you.

I was recommended for the stimulator and my bleeping ins co. would pay for the trial but not the implant. I called them and they said have my doctor reaply and have it as medically necessary, but they also said they couldn't say if that would do it also. I am so sick of trying all types of pills all opiates and have no relief from pain. I am just now on ssd and have to wait 12 more months for medicare so I have lousy ins. for now.

nipper123 , I know, waiting sucks, Ihave two more months before Iget medicare.In Texas you have to be dissable for two years before you qualify for medicare. I applied for the CBA (COMMUNITY BASED ALTERNATIVE) Texas department of Aging and Disabilty Services program and when I was approved I then was approved for medicaid,but it still took a year and a half.I two am tired of takeing so many pills and feeling down all the time,maybe the morphine pump will help in that regards... good luck too you in findind relief.

i had a baclofen pump put in that worked great. they piggybacked it with morphine and it did not do shit for my pain and i had to go back on oral morphine. 160 mg+ per day and still pain. my stanford/harvard doctor said it was not working because the physicians assistant did not ween me off all opiates and he want to take me off all pain meds on the spot. boy did this guy get an ear full. i am a teacher and it was the middle of the year and he wanted to take me completely off the oral morphine i was taking. so they weened the morphine out of the pump and on the day my summer vacation started i started weening off the morphine. i am on day three and in such pain, i know people out there can imagine. on aug 13th they are gonna put morphine back in my pump. we will see. i know my doctor wanted me off opiates for like a month and the p/a's math has me off for 16 days. 13 more days of hell to go. it better work! i will let you know.

A friend of ours.....his Mother has Chrones disease......which apparently can be very painful. Well anyway she has had a morphine pump......and it has gotten infected several times & that has landed her in the hospital. Just something to think about, especially for any who are prone to getting infections. If you can get relief from oral meds that would be the way to go IMO.

Sorry its been so long for a response,its seems my two pain managent doctors have decided that the morphine pump was not the answer,so now they they are discusing and/or talking about a clinical trial on a gabapentin pump.Has anyone had any experince or heard of this
