Hello everyone,

For the last couple of weeks the burning pain in my feet, legs, and butt has been more severe..then on top of that I started getting burning and stabbing pain in my upper back on the right side of my incision so bad that it has cost me sleep for the last 2 nights!

After my shower while drying off and applying lotion I noticed (by touch) that on the right side of my breast I have a patch of small blisters on a red irritated background..my aunt has shingles and has suffered with them for a couple of years now...so I knew what to look for on the web...!

Anyway what I discovered was that the pain associated with shingles is the same Neuropathic (sp) pain assoiciated with diebetics, paralyzation (sp) amongst others...

How many of you have or are dealing with this?
Should I go to the ER now or wait till my appointment with my pain management doctor on the 10th?
I have applied Zovirax (Aclavir) to the area now and it has seemed to help a little?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Dove

I had shingles a few years ago and found that topical anaesthetic cream (not ointment) available from the pharmacy helped a lot.
You have my sympathy. Nice it isn't.

Hey thanks Greybeard,

Yes they had given me Zovorax (Aclyvair) in the hospital for a cold sore I thought I was getting...so I applied that and boy did it help. It is a topical cream also, and stopped it almost immediately. At least I can wait till my doc's appt now "hoping & praying".. yea "life is a bed of roses, just watch out for all the pricks". And it seems that as a para there is always something there to prick me! lol
