Stella, I'm waiting!!
No tats here either.
I'm a fainter with needles, so you can imagine how difficult it is being a heroin junky.
But I'm interested in seeing some skin all the same.
StellaLAtella
Q, I hope you don't wait too long. I was joking! But you know I do have scars, just not ones that I purposely put there. I'm like you when it comes to needles. Hell, I cry when I prick my finger sewing! If you still want to see some scars.........well, I'm sure there's already a post here with lots of scars........IF you're into that for real.
~Stella

P.S. Q......I'll show you mine, if you'll show me yours. yikes.gif
qbounce
Stella, you naughty naughty girl--hehe.

To be honest, I can't even watch that SCARED show on MTV. That's some masochistic stuff going on there.

FatDave what's that in the second picture of your first post, could it be the G-Virus thing from Resident Evil 2 ? Or am I just to much of a game nerd.

This is mine i'm irish, polish, and catholic. the red and white for the polish flag, the 4 leaf clover for the Irish and the fish is for being catholic.

Nice work, F-Dave! I have my back tattooed (an old school Americana mermaid holding a heart on a string that looks like a cartoon version of me and a free-handed space 'scene' with planets, stars, and a rocket ship) but not a whole lot of tattoos considering, as I mentioned in another thread, I co-own a tattoo shop with someone. I am not a tattooer though--can't draw for shit. Just run the business side of things and keep the boys in line.

LoL, you aren't the first person to say that! but no, its not. It is an evil little jester / monster with my nickname in graffiti on top. thats the only tattoo I don't remember getting.

The large samurai on my left arm was done in traditional Tebori (tapped by hand with a really long handle on the needle,17 flat) it isn't finished yet and already has 8 hours in it. It is a cover of a tattoo I got when I was 13.

I am a piercer, yet have no piercings. They just aren't my thing.

I dunno, the boys who have to put up with me almost every day might disagree. biggrin.gif Tattooers all act like rock stars. It's ridiculous.

Tattoo artist are a weird bunch, I work with a guy that is 60 something years old. He is an Vietnam Vet, and a biker. His art work is amazing, but you'd think he has a god complex sometimes.

through him I have met Bob Tyrrell and Paul Booth.

The old dudes who come from the old school are always incredible artists. Bob Tyrrell, nice. The guy who I co-own the shop with, that's pretty much his idol. He was mentored by... ah, shit, I forget the guy's name. f*@k, I'll ask him. One of the 'big' guys that everyone idolizes. Tattooers in general have massive egos (possibly from the vast amounts of women who continually hit on them) and they're all whacked out artists, particularly the ones who are really really good. I guess it's kind of the 'mad genius' concept or something. I don't know. After I got divorced, I dated a tattooer who was a friend of some of the boys at my shop. NEVER AGAIN, I tell ya. Never again.

I had piercings. Took them all out. Only one I have left now is a curved barbell in my lower belly button.

The pic of my tattoo is too big to post, but it is of a blue rose with a heart at the base of it's stem and a wooden cross dangling from a chain and it is on the underside of my left forearm.

Ches....was the toe tag after the paralysis? I have a puzzle piece on my leg and want to finish the pic but didnt know how well tatting a paralyzed leg would turn out. I figured the pain would cause spasms. and i dont think spasms while gettin a tat is gonna lead to a good outcome. ohmy.gif oooops.gif doh.gif

Well, coming from someone who owns a tattoo shop (me), I can tell you right now that any good tattooer will NOT continue if you are seriously spazzing out (unless they are a good friend of yours and thinks its funny to see your limbs whack out crazily!). The best thing to do is to try to find a tattooer who has worked with people with spinal cord injury before--below the level of injury--and be very very very open and honest with him/her about any potential issues. If possible, see if he/she can 'test' you out with no ink first and see how your body reacts. If your foot or whatever you are trying to tattoo is spazzing out, no matter how "good" the tattooer is, it will not make for a good outcome. Any decent tattooer is used to people jumping, startling, etc., and can compensate but spasms are an entirely different thing. And of course, you should be watching out for autonomic dysreflexia and the tattooer should be aware of this as well. People with injuries below T6 can also get AD reactions, btw, only milder. If you have any questions, I can always pass on the emails of the tattooers at my shop and maybe they can answer some questions for you if they have a minute. PM me if interested.
jaquie_farmer
I didn't know my tattooer personally and my wrist was seriously spazzing because it's below my level of injury. He held down my arm and kept going. The outcome was great btw. smile.gif Maybe I was just a lucky one.

Your tattoo is also tiny and takes very little time, which is probably why he kept going. It's basically a couple of lines. Not knocking your tattoo, just stating a fact. When you're trying to do a larger piece on someone, the tattooer is not going to want to just hold it down, especially if that person (the client) takes their tattoos seriously and sees them as art. That last thing they'll want is a shitty tattoo. Most reputable artists would rather die than have someone walking around with a shitty tattoo that was done by them.
jaquie_farmer
then i guess it depends on what shes wanting to get. if shes wanting something like ches's toe tag i think she'll be fine w/ some spazzing. of course if she's wanting something crazy intricate then maybe not. but i think that as long as the tattooer is willing to take his time then she should be able to get what she wants spaz or not. when my wrist was spazzing he simple held it down harder or took a break.

anywho i think you should just go talk to someone where you were thinking about going. see what they think.

Yeah I got it shortly after my accident. I took a hydrocodine to relax me some. Funny thing about my spasms, before the needle could even touch my foot it would jump.It spazzed while getting the ink too, but not as much. It was kinda weird... I feel ya though on the hesitation to go back, I still need a touch up on the tag, its been over a year.. Im dreading it!

DO IT! Toronto sucks compared to La Jolla, I'm sure. BTW, the La Jolla date is September 17, if I recall. (How do we manage to hijack almost every thread? threadjack.gif )
