I was at Shepherd 2007-2008. I started out as an inpatient, then moved to the Day Program, OT was Mandy and PT was Lauren. Spent a total of 2 months there. I can't say enough good things about the place. It's definitely the best spinal hospital in the US. Maybe in the world... Shepherd is also one of only 14 Model System of Care hospitals in the nation, that follow strict guidelines for SCI and TBI patients. I know that when I was a patient, there were doctors visiting from all over the world to examine the way things were done at Shepherd, so it has a pretty good reputation. I've been back several times since I left rehab, for various tests, etc. The traffic in Atlanta sucks, but The Shepherd Center is a great place. biggrin.gif

I was there from mid-August of 1990 until late January of 1991. (It was called Shepherd Spinal Center then.) All of it was as inpatient therapy. First couple months I spent mainly getting my pressure sores healed and regaining the 50 to 60 pounds that I lost in the hospital prior to my transfer. Had I not transferred when I did, I would have been dead. My occupational therapist was Cheryl and my physical therapist was Sarah, but I doubt that either of them are still working there. I spent a lot of time there and met a lot of great people. After I returned home I started to get partial movement in my left arm and did three years of outpatient therapy close to home. Needless to say, the idea of going for more therapy is not something I want to do, but if I had to I would not mind going back to Shepherd's.

She was mine also! You were really there in November? So was I...

You were on the second floor? I had Dr. Murray, Jenny Cowhig, Jana Candia, Angel (I don't remember her last name), and I think that was it.

Please tell me you were on their team too!

My accident took place on June 8 08, I had my surgery a couple of days later in Macon Ga. I checked in to the Shepherd center on June 20 08. I can't say enough good things about Shepherd ! I left there after 2.5 months, and walked out with a cane. I went back a couple of months ago to thank everybody.

I did in-patient during jan - march 2008 under Dr. Murray, OT - Cindy and PT - Cathy. I did out patient afterwards in april. I must say i have the shepherd center to thank for all im capable of now. While i was there i didnt like it that much....but i now see the benefits of the strictness there.

I was in the Shepherd Center Oct 2003-Dec 2003
Dr. Murray's team, don't remember my OT and PT names. I was in pretty bad shape so my PT and OT was very limited at the time I was there. I was transferred to a VA hospital about the time I was able to actually do any rehab and did most my rehab in the VA till May of 2004.

i was there from july to sept of 2006. summer pushing up peach tree was brutal. kelly was my pt and patty was my ot. they were great to myself and the rest of my family. while in pt i became a proud papa for the second time. if it wasn't for the efforts of my rehab team I would not be as independent as i am today. does anyone know if patty and kelly are still there?
thanks
