I was recently switched from oxycodone IR (roxycodone) 10mg to Hydrocodone 10/650 (10mg of hydrocodone and 650mg of acetaminophen)

I have noticed that my pain is not managed as well with the hydrocodone. Has anyone else had the same experience?

That's because you are talking apples and oranges. Oxycondone is more of a morphine base, hydrocondone is more of a codiene base.

It seem like your doctor is trying to ween you off of the opiates, you can ask him for the 750/500 hydrcodone, that might work allittle better.

Hydro works better for Mr. Hapa and myself.

He takes it for severe back pain 10/650. He's tried Oxy in the past and it just doesn't do anything.

I take 10/660s for what I call my "hurricane" migraines and when I get a "tsunami" I take a nasal spray which is an opiate. It's a combination analgesic/anaesthetic.

If you are taking these meds everyday, be careful b/c of the overuse of Acetaminaphen. Maybe the doctor can give you just Hydrocodone without the APAP. For some people the Acetaminaphen (Tylenol) seems to help kick-in the Hydro, but for some it doesn't work.

I'm actually thinking of switching to a lower dose like 10/325s. Some meds just don't work for all people. For the surgery I had recently I was given Demerol and I couldn't even tell I took anything. My tolerance is really high. I actually called to get the Hydro 10/325s and that helped. Seems strange doesn't it?

The oxycontin is generally stronger than the percosets you're getting now. Also less likely to make you drowsy. Much closer to a morphine based drug.
Plus the tylenol in the perc's could harm your liver, especially if you already have problems in that area. Hep c, heavy drinking, etc.

If you find you have an overabundance of either, it would be best not to have them lying around the house (kids, dogs etc)
