What's the age limit?

6-17 is our cutoff as far as far as the Oceans Healing Group goes, we made a exception for Jake just because i've know him and his family for so many years...The camp itself is built to accommodate people in wheelchairs though, so if you did want to take a vacation and learn to surf, we could definitely make it happen.

Totally awesome. That's such a great idea. The camp looks amazing and man ... that hammock looks quite relaxing ... Maybe next year hubby & I will have to look into doing something like that.

Christian this camp definitely looks sweet. To get a better idea of travel possibilities I have a few questions. These are assuming the crip in question is not using the O.H.G. for funding and are going for vacation and to learn to surf.

1. What airport would one fly into and how far is the camp from it. Is it a taxi situation or shuttle?

2. What roughly is the season or is there one? Would it just be better to plan a trip in close proximity to another scheduled function.

3. Is there a normal set rate for individuals or maybe by villa or is it best to have a large group?

Hey there, of course...

1. You would fly into the only international airport in Costa Rica, which is located in the capitol city of San Jose...From there, a car would pick you up and take you to the small municipal airport where you will catch a 30 minute puddle jumper to Tambor. When you land, we will be waiting for you so that we can take you out to the camp...When crips do travel to our camp, I organize everything from transportation to special needs and medical logistics.

2. It all really depends on what your looking for when you come down?....Fishing? Surfing? Scuba Diving? Jungle Tours? ect... The best all around time to go is in the spring time (November-January), the weather is hot, sunny and dry... Unless you are a huge nature fan, in which case (July-October) is the rainy season and when the jungle really come alive with plants, flowers and animals. But unless your a hardcore crip who is highly mobile and not afraid of getting wet, i'd stick to the spring time.

3. Typically, our rates vary depending on the time of year. However for my fellow disabled guests, I have to add $300 on to the standard rate, just because of the all of the logistics that come with organizing a person in a wheelchair doing all of the activities they want to...It takes alot of prep ahead of time and in many cases volunteer help to make sure things are done safely! As far as groups or singular? It all depends on what your looking to take from the experience? If you have alot of other crip friends, then by all means make a group out of it!... We have three fully ADA, wheelchair accessible cabina's that can accommodate two wheelchairs each.
