Hi I have been prescribed pain patches. Anyone here tried them? How successful are they? any replies appreciated.






c4-c7 laminectomy 2007 for cord compression. cervical myelopathy.
c4-c7 ACDF cages for persisting compression re radiculopathy etc.
have some permanent damage myelomalacia, cervical myelopathy.

Hi Scatty, just an observation on patches. Not for pain but other things so it may not be of much help. I got really bad welts from them and the skin would break down after just a day then become itchy and red afterwards. Because of the amount of scarring I had and the places I wasn't allowed to use them on, I soon ran out of space and went back to injections. If you have any reaction to adhesives, perhaps just do a trial run first rather than ordering the whole three months. i did have patches in hospital for nausea and they seemed to work OK though.

Hi, just thought I would add another point with the patches. My husband sweats excessively (and we live in a high humidity area) so has a lot of trouble getting the patches to stick and to stay stuck, as they lift all the time. If the patch is not in constant contact with your skin you are not getting the full dose, this then causes your dosage to not be consistant.

I've used the Flextror and the Latacane patches both. I have problems getting them to stay on as well as red marks on the skin as well. But tape also breaks my skin down to, so I'm not sure about those. I used the patches for pain as well as a rotator cup injury. Seemed to help, but they have downfalls as well.
