ahoys.

I'm off on a river trip down the orange river, the border of SA and namibia.
What i's wondering is if any other of you have done river rafting.

I'm busy building a l shape to shove my cushion onto and support my back. I'm planning to strap the L to the ablebodied seat and run like that.

If any of you have experiance to share i'd be most happy to hear.

I'm guessing river rafting is not really a common para pass time,

Off with my bud stuart tomorrow for some pre-fresh water rowing at "hout bay" nice harbour like giant mass of ocean water that won't 'wave' me over every 5 seconds but still give me motion of the ocean.

I guess the best bet is to post photo's when i've done the trip so any other mad people who like risk can have a referance.

Have fun! Are you going with Felix?

nope.

A fellow chair friend of mine goes to a psyc group to deal with adapting to life in a chair and they found a lady who helped a quad go down a couple of years ago. (bout 2 or 3 years, never did remember the exact timing.)
Either way she has taken her outdoor career and has gotten industry support and started a company 'outdoor africa.'
Now what they are doing is giving back the life i used to have back to us para's.
She did say the name of the company whose giving the guides and boats but as i mentioned earlier i can't recall the details.
I'll ask for more info again this week.

Thanks, I would like to get details and hear how it goes. My son is a quad. Dont think he is up to rafting yet, but he is getting stronger every day so who knows? Maybe in the future!

and many others - do seasonal whitewater rafting trips for gimps on the American River (North, South and Middle forks). Great outfits. I'm sure they'll have ideas for modifying rigs.

Good luck.
