gosh wish that was my weekend! No-one here will let you freefly.. just wondering how you did your legs, you went into sit when you landed, did you have something on your knees to keep them bent?
knightrider
Awesome dude, I'm thinking of doing a full AFF skydive course this summer, i've never had a thrill thats better than a skydive the speed is immense. What kind of strap did you use for you legs to stay up? Did you hook it it up to your harness?
When i did my tandem they normally use velcro straps to strap your legs to theirs but in my jump we thought sod it lol.
As you can tell in my vid not the best idea but hey i didn't care, looks worse than it was coz of the slow mo' when you see it.

Bet your jumping all the time, I know i will be.

Here's my vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jseBZUgjiiM

That's a huge achievement The D, doing a solo jump, bet it felt incredible.
Like yours too knightrider, it's easy to see how much you enjoyed it! You might not remember but you encouraged me to try it last summer. Well i did, and it was the most exciting thing I've ever done. It's a truly awesome feeling dropping through the sky...so much quicker than pushing a chair! My daughter made a jump too, she's the girl getting on the plane after me at the start of the vid. My wife didn't want us to do it....and barely spoke to us for the rest of the day. laugh.gif Here's my vid:

Cool vid Graphic! Great to see that you done it. Yes nothing like it hey! Bet you had a smile for days, I know I did. Hope your daughter enjoyed it too.

Love it!!! That is so awesome!! That actually made me want to try skydiving this summer. I've wanted to do it anyway but now I think I may start looking into places. It's cool to see you do a solo landing--I'd also want to do it solo and land on my own but I have yet to see anyone with SCI (until now!) do that. I'd be kind of worried about my ass on the landing though. I went snow tubing this winter and almost killed my ass so I don't want to to risk a wound on my bum. Did you just take your chances with the landing or did you use some kind of butt padding? Was it difficult to find a place that would let you go solo?

And when are you going skiing?! specool.gif

Yes, I was on a high for days afterwards, as was my daughter. It's an incredible feeling isn't it? I wasn't to keen on the leg harness they used because it made my legs hang down, although I didn't notice at the time. It was a very gentle landing though. I'd like to do it again and my daughter's definitely doing it again. Hmm, she's got more years left than me so I'd better start planning!

Nice jump you look really stable in the air. I used to jump before my accident (non skydiving related) and did a few more solo's one year after it then stopped. I hope to get back into it this year.

What are you using to pad your butt?

D,
awesome video!
Thanks for sharing it with us. cheers.gif

In freefall i have some custom made 90 degree leg braces to keep my legs stable and i have modified an old wheelchair cushion that is stiched into my motor x pants. I have 2 straps that have been stiched into the knees and have caribiners on them that i attached to my chest strap so my legs are up for landing.

This video shows the caribiners clearly at the 1min 29sec mark and me undoing them off my chest strap..

I never take chances with damaging my skin and have not caused any injury to my butt or legs yet and i don't plan too. I am very careful with when i jump and make sure that everything is well planned and prepared.

I'll try and get 3 more done this weekend and I should be right to get my license.

That's good. What do you use to pad your butt? If I go do it this summer, I want to make sure my ass is pretty well protected.

That's awesome about getting your license!!

Re padding, read my last post again, i use a cushion. It works really well.
You can see it in my video if you look closely.
