I have been having massive amounts of spasms and neuropathic pain, nothing is helping. Last night I had to take the last 7 ambien I had just to pass out. Doctor is unhelpful said to sleep it off or not worry about it...kinda hard not to.

I have not hurt myself, no pressure sores, haven't changed much. My question is; Can stress cause the spike?

My BF is goin through the same thing. He started seeing a shrink cause he started stressing out bad and had to take medication to sleep, also he's going to see his doctor again about his spasms because they are insane right now. He has a baclofen pump so they are going to check that and make sure it's working properly. So I don't know for sure if stress an cause the spike but from what my bf is going through I would say yes.

I've found that stress can directly impact my nerve pain, but it's definitely not the sole cause. I have constant nerve pain in my sacrum, butt, legs and feet. My spasms are limited mainly to my left thigh and aren't major spasms, but what I call a "constant, mini, burning, flickering spasm". It, too, gets worse with high levels of stress.

With that said, stress is not the main cause of the pain and spasms, as they are both constant in my situation. I use to have a lot of stress in my life after my sci, but most of the stress causing problems have been eliminated and I continue to have the constant pain/spasm. I've not found a drug or activity that will reduce the pain or spasms.

So, yes, I do think that stress does have a direct relation to an increase in nerve pain and spasms, but I don't think they are the main causes.

Just my direct observations and experiences. I hope you find some relief.

I already see a shrink, 2 times a month. The stress is because of some recent events that are out of my control but really put a dent in my plans.

I have constant nerve pain, but has become unbearable.
