stop wearing a binder and leg wraps

For a c-injury patient it is primarily in place to keep orthostatic hypotension (postural blood pressure drop) at bay.

It is all dependant on how acute you are and how your body reacts to having it off. Mine came off quickly, but a friend had to wear his the majority of his rehab stay. Your mileage may vary.

still have mine, its been 6 months. but i am 'weaning' off the binder, 2 hrs off a day to allow my body to adjust. occasionally take off stockings for showers, but the feet turn bright purple, which makes me nervous. i think most people have there binders off sooner than their stockings..?

I wore ace wraps, as well as ted hose on the legs, and also the abdominal binder to help stabalize the BP.

I would, at first, loosen the binder a little while wearing it in the house.
The same goes for the ace wraps aroundthe leg. This was about 4 months post sci.

By 6 months, I was free of all binders and ace wraps, but I still dealt with drops in BP after eating, and sometimes I still do.

i got rid of my stockings a couple months after injury but still wear my ab binder going on 7 yrs., i had weaned off it but went back to it because i feel like i get a little more trunk support with it (i'm tall so i look for any extra trunk support i can get) & although i don't have quad belly yet it helps hide it.

Stopped wearing the binder after about 2 weeks. Wear the compression leggings every 3rd or 4th day still. Get too much swelling in the feet if I don't. Also had a clot in my right leg last year in April. Guess I should have listened to my wife when she told me to keep wearing the leggings. doh.gif

i hated the ted stockings, everyone in my bay in rehab had to have them for 14weeks. Whoever invented ted stockings must be loaded
