Needing opinions on Pediatric rehab facilities in Nevada or even California for my 2 1/2 year old grandson. In February he was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his spinal cord. He had surgery to remove it at Stanford in California...T2 to T11. When released...went home to Vegas...where we thought we could find pediatric physical therapy...so far we have tried 5 therapist. My grandson has went from no movement below his waist to now crawling, pulling up and taking small steps with assist. He has had few therapy appointments as some therapist don't want to deal with his injury, others seem to only stretch him out a bit...then send us on our way. We feel he needs Intensive therapy...would appreciate info on facilities. Also does anyone know how much this type of therapy costs...my grandson's insurance therapy limit was reached week one of therapy...now paying out of pocket.
Contact Shriners Hospital for Children. Some of their facilities treat Spinal Cord Injuries at little or sometimes no cost to the patients.
