Hi Aussie's

Going again to Perth soon and can't find a company to hire me a car with hand controls.

Any other info on things to do, like V8 driving experinces with hand controls, also very welcome.

Any going to Perth should try this out - http://www.lonerangers.com.au/

Any help or ideas very welcome!
Dave

Hi,
Can't help with hiring info but as for driving a V8 on hand controls is no different to driving any other car, just be gentle on the fast peddle if your worried.

Try the Doll House on Charles St for a bit of culture.

I hired one in Brisbane from Hertz (got a nice black XR6 Falcon too). At the time I went through their website but I know some (Avis and Budget) don't necessarily list them on their websites as bookable items. You may want to try either calling them or your local branch of that company as they can often arrange something. H2kOther (26).gif Either that or enlist the help of a good travel agent and get it in writing that your car will indeed have hand controls. I think the best place to go for accessable rental cars is the USA. The vehicle below was waiting for me (as ordered) at Hertz LAX when I arrived. Took a while for my travel agent to arrange though.

While I am not a fan of owning one (in case I get depressed and top myself) suicide.gif I did go to a firing range in Vegas, when in Rome as they say... It was amazing the sense of power and the fun I had using them, especially the machine gun. All the more reason for me not to own one I suppose. mfr_lol.gif

The guy from Kent sends me to a knocking shop and the Essex boy says I should do street racing! lol Cheers lads!

Tickets booked for the Australia v South Africa rugby match on 29th Aug. Need to find a Muay Thai fight night, as it's big in Aus.

When I go to the shooting range I'll take a Stars & Stripes flag so I can use it for target practice! lol Only joking, in case any of you over-sensitive Yanks decide it's a war-mongering offence to even make a joke at your flag, never mind poke holes in it!

I've found a Ford Falcom XR6 with Hertz. It's not an estate/station-wagon but it seems to be the only car available with hand controls.

Just remember, they are quite a big car - a bit bigger than the old XJ6 Jaguars. My car is a lot smaller (hot hatch around the size of a focus) but 2 litre and although the Falcon was nice I felt my car felt a lot more agile and sporty, being around half the weight. You may want to get the sat nav for around $10 per, just test it before you leave the airport as my first one was mute and perhaps a bit mentally retarded so I had to return it to the airport which took up a fair chunk of my time.

You'll love it! There's another thread here with more ideas on places to go and things to do in and around Perth.

The car is fine and not too high at all. Sporty beefy model and goes like shit of a shovel, but speeding is a big no no in Aus!

Feel free to ask any questions not answered in the other thread.
