Hy

I have the same problem the other way round...left foot swells....get some circulation in the legs may help if its just water retention...helps me...not completely but wrks....try getting a small cheap tens machine n stick it to some mucles in yr leg....water may still pool though so go for a cheap option if u go for one smile.gif elevation of yr foot above yr knee should work too...(your foot/ankle should seem normal when u wake up in d morn in bed??)

May be no use to u but thought ide tell u wat i do smile.gif

Good luck
Mike

this may sound crazy... i had the same problem my left foot would always swell..it was as simple as the elastic in the socks were too toght, that was it. I tried looser socks and not tieing my sneakers... no swelling... the doctor told me i had to start wearing those stocking ''ughhh'' me and my caretaker looked real close and noticed wear the swelling was starting from. Sometimes a little small adjustment will work wonders

I was just going to suggest that you elevate it for a little while throughout the day. If you can lift your foot up onto something like a box with a pillow on it to keep your feet higher up & still pad your feet from the box, look for a box that might fit under a desk so you can continue working on your computer or doing paperwork that sort of thing (that way you don't have to put everything on hold while you've got your feet up). Since it is your right foot try to sleep on your left side when you sleep & place a pillow between the legs & it will again help with the swelling.......well it helps when my left foot is turning purple......though I have not had it swell up too bad.

This might sound stupid but I had problems with my feet swelling. We found out that most of it was my socks and shoes.I bought shoes that came in wide so my feet would have more room and I started buying socks that fit a little loose.

Over the weekend I've watched my left foot get more and more swollen and colourful bruising develop under the instep and round the toes. I have some feeling but have no recollection of hitting it, or dropping anything on it. The swelling has progressed despite elevating the leg frequently. It is sore and putting weight on it makes it feel as though it's going to burst.

Both legs have a history of swelling - which my GP and I attribute to blood pressure meds. Both lower legs get a bit waterlogged during the day, and have been for some months but it normally disperses overnight.

The swelling of the left foot hasn't reduced overnight for a couple of days. I've tried ice, elevation. I've put a tens machine in various places on the lower leg and foot, but I can't feel it and there is no muscle twitching - but this is normal for me.

Any ideas? All I can come up with (and it could get me a slap) is to join Clara on her sofa! mfr_lol.gif

Not pregnant are you? (Just checking what with swelling of the feet a disadvantage to pregnancy)

Are there any signs of a possible fracture? Or puncture (i.e. indicating an infection) mark?

Why? Is it only a narrow sofa? smile.gif

Some would no doubt look at my belly and assume I was carrying quads (the other sort).

I've had a good look but can't see any marks. Can't get any footwear on at the moment but I'll give it a couple of days to see what develops.

Take care of the head.

I never had problems with foot swelling until the last year and its also just my left foot, calf and now just above my knee.

I wear wide shoes, soft top socks but my left foot, calf and thigh are still swollen and throb; its never my right foot.
Even after a night in bed my swelling never goes down so its a waste of time sticking my foot up in the day.
Zdenka took some photos of my legs one night. £5 an A4 Glossy print if anyone's interested?

Anyone want to swap their good left leg with my swollen one? At least we'd have matching pairs.

As for Greybeard and his Queen Ann legs......

There's not enough room on Clara Sofa with me and her there; ask Trin, she's always having a lie down... smile.gif

Lymphatic system is the culprit...

I know I'm old and easily confused, but why is Trin's lymphatic system responsible for her always laying down?

Back to reality......... Would my lymphatic system be responsible for the bruising? I can't see that myself.

I'm not a professional so wouldn't even attempt a guess at why your foot is bruised; you need a Dr to see it.

The Lymphatic System is very complexed, but can have something to do with swollen feet and legs.

Is the swelling hot to touch? i.e. hotter than the rest of your body?

Scribs - I can't get the tea (or indeed the hot chocolate marshmallow and whipped cream...) you have to get off me first.

Buy some of the shoes with thick padded tongues and elastic strips that run from the sides of the tongue down to the sides of the insoles. Skater shoes. Some of the old Vans, Etnies, Osiris, DC, etc. I wear the old Sha-Shas, and they keep the feet from swelling. Same basic theory as compression stockings, but just for the feet. Don't forget to wear socks. They keep the elastic from leaving marks on the sides of the foot.

Greytbeard. I told you Matron Trin would sort you out. If your leg feels hot, then its probably infected.
I hope you get it sorted soon, we don't want it dropping off.

Doc says the problem today is cellulitis. Two weeks of penicillin caps.

Jass1 - I went one better than that. I tried compression socks. They hurt like hell!

At least I made some effort to get my knees brown. It's been a bit hard this year though, eh? ....and I am nearer the Equator.
