Hi, My husband was hospitalized from March 23-July 8 and since he has been home we have gone thru 3 agency attendents. He is a T6-T7 incomplete and right now spends 20 hours in bed because of pressure sores. So the attendents do have to do alot for him. The agency sent 3 attendents, the first couldn't even read, the second said he (my husband) was to much work, and the third just disapered (he liked her of course) My husband is 42 and up until his accident very independent. With the turnover of care, he is depressed and says he feels like a burden. How do I respond to that? PA won't pay a spouse to care for a spouse so we have to use someone else. How do I find someone who will stick around? Is there anything I can do once he has an attendent to keep them? This is all so new and overwelming for us I just want the best for him....so he can be happy Any/all advice is welcome

Hmmm, are u there while the caretaker is there ''meaning while shes bathing, dressing....''maybe u should, im a quad and when i get a new caretaker i let my mom do my bowel program for the firstt few times, let them get comfy with me. Then later kind of ask the question ''have u ever done the bowel program'', then ask if the willin to learn..basically try bating them in a little dont just give it to them so raw the first few days...assist them as much as possibe, may make them feel comfy

Do you know any family members that need a job? Maybe you could try hiring them. I say keep looking you will find someone that is willing to work.
