I am a 45 year old with a spinal cord stretch at c3/4/5 level incomplete of nearly 19 years. I feel a bit unusual in asking about trying to get spasm back when so many want to get rid of theirs. But I have always had pretty powerful spasm which was kept in check with a combo of baclofen/dantruim. I have used my spasm to help me stand to transfer into my car on and off the loo etc but lately I thought I just wasn't putting enough effort in to concentrating on my standing up or that it was due to my age, muscle's getting weaker. Just lately I've come to the realisation that my spasm is really reduced in my legs and only really spasm's when I lie down and there's no weight through my legs. I just can't figure out what could be the cause and if I reduce my medication to see if I can regain it back to a usable level. Or is it possibly something totally different and nothing to do with my SCI an illness, as I have felt more tired as well along with muscle aches with no real activity to have cause the aches in the first place. Just wanted to know if anybody who may have had their spasm reduce at all after having an SCI for a long time.

I too have always had 'helpful spasms since my trauma back in 1966 which have really helped in my dressing especially--but bout 5 years ago, almost over night I started loosing alot of abilities especially transferring, I too tired more quickly and my endurance went down the tubes. It was almost like a switch was turned on or off. It sounds like what is happening to you. I think most of it is aging. I went into rehab and got some strength back and I am doing OK--life is just a bit more spooky.
