Does anyone have any experience with using wii games for cardio or weight training? If so, what games have you tried?

Oh man, doing Wii Boxing is freaking hard on the arms.
I am a T5, so I don't have any trunk control, really, and I could do it.
It helped my balance, and I bet if I had made it a routine thing, it would've made me pretty strong.
I do recommend the Wii.

Oh gosh, boxing is so fun. My arms are ALWAYS sore after I play it. But it is really great exercise. Another great game is Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. There are a lot of events on there, like swimming, that make you use your arms a lot. I would definitely recommend boxing for sure, and then if you feel like it, the olympic game.

Fun way to excercise. I also found the boxing and the mario and sonic at the oympic games to be good for cardio, and does work your muscles to a degree! But its no substitute for the real thing! Not really sure about the weight training on the Wii, havent tried it, didnt know you could, But being from the UK were are always one step behind on these things!

I bought a wii at the weekend with hte balance board for my wife. On saturday night we had some friends over and we all had a laugh watching the guys doing the skiing and hula hoop games. Then I had an idea. I got up in my standing frame and put the balance board on the tray in front of me and leaned on it with my hands. I don't think it's a good comparison against some drunk AB's though as I reached 177m in thee ski jump, the next furthest was 93. However, it is good to be able to use all the games and the hula game is a really good arm workout.

Thankyou everyone for your input....I'm really thinking of investing in the wii, especially now! Sounds like a blast!

Physical therapists also use it for PT now for balance. They have you sit on the Wii Fit board, and then you can do the balance games. They have you sit on a cushion on the board. If the cushion prevents proper reading of your sit, then they place a sliding board between the fit board and cushion. The Wii fit game has a bunch of balance programs. not sure how you would do the other cardio options on it though.
Also, try Mario Kart. That is also a great arm workout and lots of fun if you use the steering wheel...

I was lucky enough to be at the 1st (and second, come to think about it) fasilities in Cananada to use the wii for PT. I had yet to be beaten on the boxing when I left

Guess I'm the champ!
Really good for theropy, plus entertaining (I'm a bit of a video game and technology dork

) although I'm not sure how much theropy guitar hero was, It'd probably help some1 with poor hand/finger strength/control. It just made my hands sore, but I can do 'Smoke on The Water'!
