My abled body husband and I are looking to get out of the cold for January, 2010. We love the ocean. What can a T10 complete, paraplegic do to entertain herself by a sandy beach with steps to access? What's in California for handicapped people?

Any other ideas out there as to what to do and where to go for January in the United States, other than Florida?

We love cruises as well, anyone found anything? I will not go on a Boat Tender any longer.

Off the coast of Georgia at it's fartherest southern point is Jekyll Island. It's small & low-key (not too much tourist crap) and in the winter, it's really quiet. There are several hotels and condos that are reasonably priced. The best access to the water is at the south end of the island at the public soccer fields where there is a nicely built wide wheelchair ramp down to the beach. It's one of my favorite places to go. Especially off season. I am including a link to their site. Hope you have fun wherever you go!

p.s. the beach has always been my favorite place to be!! bye1.gif

Check out Daytona Beach, very wheelchair friendly-sand and all.
