IVE BEEN HURT FOR TWO YEARS, I GOT SHOT IN IRAQ, I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO DRIVE A STICK SHIFT AGAIN LUCKILY I HAVE MY LEFT LEG THAT STILL KINDA WORKS BUT I STILL DRIVE WITH IT, I HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO THINK ABOUT ANYTHING BESIDES THE REDIAUTO MOD. IF ANYONE HAS AN IDEA OR KNOW WHAT TO DO, PLEASE LET ME KNOW I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT, I WAS THINKING ABOUT USING MY LEFT LEG FOR THE CLUTCH AND BREAK, AND PUTTING A HAND CONTROL FOR MY RIGHT HAND

You could have a handcontrols for all but would be a bit of a juggling act. I know of people who do. Or perhaps like you say use a pedal clutch with left leg and have hand controls on the throttle/brake. That should work ok if you can manage the clutch control with your good leg.

Another option would be to have a automatic clutch with a switch on the gearstick. In the UK there is a system called Guido Simplex Clutch and would imagine you will have similar options there?

In UK there are driving centres which have various cars set up for people to try. In the absence of that perhpas borrow some portable handcontrols and experiment (in a safe place such as a track or private land!!)

Good luck

I know this is old... and this dude only posted once, but this is my experience so far.

I've just recently started driving my truck again. The only way I'm able to use the clutch is when I wear my leg brace. Also, I have a small pillow under my left hip so that I can lean in and use leverage to press it in. I also drive like a grandma - close to the dash, straight up and down. I have the ability to use my right heel as a pivot point, so it doesn't ever leave the floor of the truck for braking/accelerating. I haven't thought of modifying my truck - mostly because the beater just isn't worth it! The thing will be almost 20 years old next year. Lots of life and love in that truck!
