In answer to your question,,,, no,, can't say I did,,, but I've been so spotty a showing up lately that I just thought I missed a few of your posts.

How the hell did someone break your "femer" , anyway??? Range of motion exercises, my ass. Streching you out a little is a good thing,, but that's a bit extreme, if you ask me.

Your lawyer probably told you not to talk about it,, but,, you could just whisper it,, we won't tell...

You might want to talk to him about that infection thing, too,, sounds like somebody in the OR hadn't washed his hands very well.

Either way,, heal quick, Rattie, my boy,, you don't want to end up a Lab,,,, well ,, you know.

Welcome back Rat! I'm sort of in the same boat as Ed as far as not popping on as frequently as I used to, a lot going on here. I really do miss the times I am unable to log on.

Glad you're back and on the mend though!

I was stretching my legs on my own, and this 'theropist' decides she can stretch it more. Well when the car door is all the way open you don't keep pushing on it. And POP! They x-ray it, but didn't go down far enough. Then the next day it's swollen twice the size of my other leg. So they do another x-ray and within 10 mins the doc comes in white as a ghost and tells me not to move. Put a brace on it and to the city I go to get it rodified. Femer looked kind like 8===x=3 . . . the x being the break (which was x shaped) and the 3 is my knee . . . says me

And Dave, yes I still has the magic pills, but I kinda avoiding them.

So anyways, I gotta be on IV antibiotics for 6 weeks (Until september 3, apparently) and am supposed ta wera this uncomfortable brace that pinches my crotch until then too.

If you can feel something pinching your crotch,, you're way ahead of me. The laying around part is the worst. I hurt worse when I move around but feel a lot worse about the world,,, so, I move and bitch.

Can you get out of bed? That would be a plus in an otherwise negative situation.

I can't really feel it, but it was digging into me today and caused my balls to bleed And ya, I gor up as soon as I could. Hate laying around. But the brace kinda screws up how i sit in my chair, and my left foot is hanging off the edge most of the time.

Who are you? Did I miss something? Sorry I didn't although I have seen you on here before but then again a lot of people sort of drop off this site without coming back but hope you are feeling better.

Same thing happened to me when they were trying to improve my range of motion. Nurses didn't bother to check my dressings on my external fixators and they got infected so they took them out thinking my leg would perhaps be strong enough. A student physio then accidentally broke my femur doing range of motion. I got a personal and genuine apology from the hospital superintendent (which they can do without worrying about liability issues here) and some extra special attention from my favourite nurses so all was good.

We can't sue for that sort of thing and still can't so there was no point in making a big fuss over it as it was all taken care of gratis. Hey, I was in hospital and any change in my life back then was a good one, even if it was an extra injury and surgery or a new scar to watch heal.

The poor physio student also took me out for a ride in my chair around the park for rugby training which was great as it was one of three trips outside the hospital that year. A silver lining is in every cloud as they say.

I wasn't really worried about it at first, but having to go through all this crap now, and the lawyer figures it'd be worth about a quarter million, so why not? Their insurence would pay me anyway.

I'm not saying not to sue......but when a business's insurance has to pay out......trust me.....the insurance company passes the cost on by raising their premiums. So by all means do as that was obviously excessive force if it broke a bone as thick as the femur......just know that yes they will still pay even if it is the insurance company who cuts you the check. Oh yeah & don't forget your lawyer is probably going to take around 30% for winning the case for you.

Not sure how it goes there but do you have to pay your own treatment costs? I have heard in some cases they take the treatment costs out so you may need to check if that is solely for pain and suffering. You could also perhaps have trouble proving negligence if you have osteoporosis or a bone weakness. Stretching is always hard to get exactly right so negligence may be difficult to prove but hey, who would say no to $250k? Could it also affect any government aid you get? If it is affecting your spuds to the extent they are bleeding you should perhaps get them to check out and adjust the brace but don't get the physio to do it or you could end up with a new lawsuit if she amputates your gonads. The brace could also cause pressure sores if you're not careful.

I only had my cast on for three days and was constantly complaining about the itch. Turns out I was allergic to the orthopaedic felt and my skin had been blistering and peeling off. That's when they decided a rod was better.
