Hi (again) - just wanted to start off saying how happy I am finding even just this sub-forum! It's helped give me a few new ideas and confidence to try a few things out.
I'm looking like I'll have to repurchase/remake a good chunk of my wardrobe post-injury. There are a few questions I have:
-What types of fabric look best/most comfortable? My problem areas are that my pants fall down too far so that you can see my scars and stretch marks (not an attractive look), and that my glub abs need to be held back somehow. I'm going to be looking to make my fall/winter clothes here soon, after I move. I have a bunch of fabric for a jersey-knit wrap dress, but I'm unsure on how it'll look on me?
-I need some pictures of shirt/sweater styles that look best for the same reasons as above. I'm thankful in knowing how to knit really well, but again, I need some ideas of what cuts work best with my new body? After that, I might be able to find something similar in the Ravelry database, or wing it on my own.
-Does anyone wear heavy or knitted socks in the winter? How do they wear? I have a pair of kilt socks I made to go with my brace, but it's been too hot to *really* test them out. I'm really sensitive to heat and cold it seems...
-Where do you have a skirt rise up to? I'm thinking just slightly above the knee, but I'm still unsure. Any particular cuts that would hide a belly? Maybe a high waisted pencil skirt?
-How the heck do I deal with nylons? Maybe I'll find something poking around the old discussions...
-Is there any type of panties that are like Spanx that easily come off when you need to potty ASAP?
-What type of tailored jacket style should I look for when suit shopping? I've generally worked at very formal environments, and am looking for at least one to interview in.
-I have a really adorable snowboarding jacket that I wore last winter a lot. If anyone is looking for a solid jacket, I'd recommend a darker-colored Burton style. The fabric on mine is nearly indestructable. I was able to wheel/use my walker without too much issue, and it turns out brown with a green silk-like lining are super cute on me!
I'm pretty average sized/proportioned, except for my newfound belly, and I have stout thighs leftover from my cycling/rowing days. Any ideas help!
