Greetings everyone.....

I am an Occupational Therapy student seeking to learn about complete C6 Spinal Cord injury.....

I would be ever so grateful to anyone with a C6 injury who would be willing to be interviewed.

Specifically I am interested in the rehabilitation process, and how it felt when you first went home....

What can you do, what can't you do, etc......

Although I am a student I am also on disability for injuries suffered in a car accident with a drunk driver, so I am not a stranger to disability......I live each day with horible head pain......much like this fellow ... >

I have not worked since 1997 and am just now far enough in my own recovery that I can attend school......

P.S. Naturally I am willing to share my real name and where I go to school with anyone who is willing to talk with me, I have no problem with that......you would not have to share any personal information with me however.....I want you to be able to verify I am who I say I am, I think that is important....

I am sorry you think something smells fishy. I am an OT student trying to learn how to work with people who have injuries such as yours.....I think actually talking with people who have the injuries with which I will be working will make me a better therapist.....wouldn't you agree?

Why the interest in ONLY complete C6 SCI?

Why not all SCIs?

I wondered the same thing.

I am interested in all disabilities and how they affect people since I will do fieldwork in a number of areas prior to getting certified. From that experience I will narrow down in what rehabilitation setting I will seek full time employment.

I have been assigned a disability to carry with me throughout the degree program and must consider it in many of the papers and projects I will be doing. I have been assinged a complete C6 spinal cord injury.

From a professional perspective I am interested in all spinal cord injuries since I will be interacting with people who have all kinds of injuries and disabilities....

From an academic standpoint however I have to know all there is to know about living with a C6 complete injury.....

Actually I am currently on disability for injuries suffered in a car accident with a drunk driver......I live with severe head pain....that accident cost me 12 years of my life, and tho I don't yet know what you all go through I am no stranger to physical pain, depression, feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, social isolation, etc.....that often accompany the types of injuries I have sustained.....I do know that like you, I charge forward with my life despite my disability issues.....I know that we are all very brave !!!

OK, I'm an upcoming OTA student. I have been volunteering at a rehab center for TBI/SCI, and am about to start work for the center as a therapy assistant this coming week. I'm sure I've learned plenty from this site, but I've also done my best to contribute what I can.

I have to say, this is a suspicious scenario we have here. An OT student with a head injury, a curiosity about C6 injury, and no profile info. Interesting. No input from you? You're just expecting everybody to start putting stuff out there for you? Wow.

So, what degree plan have you selected? OT, OTA, or OTR? Do you have any profile information you could share with the group?

I don't care whether you "would be doing the same" or not. I just want to know why I get this creepy feeling that something is awry. Particularly the statement about how "we are all very brave." That sounds like something I've heard way too much from pretenders and devotees and just plain weird ABs. When the first thing you say is "Hey, can you give me a bunch of information to use for my school project," it's a bit conspicuous. I mean, it's great for a 4th-grader to say to her parents, but for a supposedly grown person to ask a bunch of people that on an open forum is just weird to me. Maybe E-Dog and I are alone here, but i doubt it.
