My bf's family has been throwing a wrench in our relationship lately & have started my questioning things. He's been a quad for over 10 yrs & his muscles have severely atrophed~ which I have been working with everyday for the past 3 mos & seem to be getting better little by little. I have suggested various adaptive type things like hand braces/boots (for foot drop) & they just brush it off. He & I have made plans to do activities, but always fall thru b/c they insist that his "skin is paper thin" & "will only be able to be up for 2hrs permanently" yet I work for a man who's 20 years into it & he is "allowed" more time up than down! The worst part is that he seems to be content w/ living his life in bed! Does anyone have any suggestions or am I just fighting a losing battle? Thanks! ~Z~

Either your boyfriend needs to stand up for himself and tell his family to butt out, or I am afraid my dear, that you are fighting a losing battle, as a C5, he should be able to live a VERY independant life......my husband is a C6 and we go everywhere and do just about anything we want....
