head_brick_wall-1.gif Any thoughts appreciated.
I had a CLAM opperation on my bladder long ago and suffer from occasional bladder infections which are controlled with a anti biotic course of tablets when required. I use SIC to empty my bladder.
This year I have had many bouts of flue like symptons ranging from 3 hours to 3 days. Not one has passed the urine infection test. Reagent strips.
The attacks are tiredness, ache, temp, balance probs, and end with me going to bed.
Should I consider that my body immune system is in trouble.

"Trouble" may be a bit harsh but improving your immune sydstem with healthy food and living is a good place to start...and I guess you know that. Also, you might consider that you may be a bit depressed - no big thing, just one of those down times we go through. Are you living dangerously enough?

If you think your immune system may need a bit of aid...changin your food and such is good or you can take some vitamin c or possibly both. I have been takin vitamin c for several years now and since on them, I haven't had a single UTI (knock on wood lol). I hope you get things sorted out somehow...I am sure bein symptomatic is hard and gettin in the way of gettin out and goin. Take care!

Thanks for the replies.
My eating habits havn't changed, so I will assume it's healthy, orange - cereal - cranberry juice - tea - cooked meal with veg - evening sandwich.
My alchohol sessions havn't changed from 2-4 pints a week and not every week with 12-15 pint binge festival weekends. About 9-12 times a year. Last one this year - The Condom Rally 4th Oct
As for depresion, yes I've had 4 bouts of driking myself silly since 1975 - all due to the presure of having to make operation decisions.
Dangerous - I don't pay fines, if I am in front of a magistrate - not quilty, I ride the most powerfull motorcycle a sidecar can be attached to, I park where my wheelchair wants me to, my first flat I wrecked cause the council refused to adapt it quickly enough, and next year I will have a cannibas fight in the county court. I vaporise about 4 times a week to help with muscel relaxation. Oh bother another law broken.
The trouble we have in this country is we have no rights and laws were and still are made without taking us into consieration. Thats us Brits - You yanks have it so easy over there, thats why I like visiting your country.
There...thats my soapbox bit.

My lifestyle hasn't realy changed since 1995 when wheelchair took over from legs and crutches.
Where I am differant is that my chord started to die in 1993 from the original damage inflicted in 1973. Also MRI scans over the years has shown areas of black tissue up and down the chord.
Now I'm getting to technical.
I don't have chord cancer.

Anymore thoughts ???????????

Doesn't drinking and smoking lower ones immune system?
Sorry to be a party crasher.

Well,,, actually,,, if it were in what the rest of the world called moderation, no. But his isn't,,, so,,,,

I've just gone thru,,, or am going thru, depending on when it ends,,, the same thing you are talking about. I even went so far as to send in samples to both my GP and my uro,, neither found evidence of infection. This morning, however, when preparing for my morning cath, I noticed pus coming out of my ,, orifice,, so I don't think an infection is out of the question, regardless of their,,, guesses.

I'm hoping that I'll feel myself by Monday,, if not, one of them WILL see me in their office,, appointment or not.

Hi Edlee
Don't worry to much about the puss unless it's gungy, smelly and lots of it.
The cath will leave some slime behind and we still have natural bodily fluids.
I donot consider myself a exsessive drinker, although I hve been known to depart from my wheelchair rather oddly at a festival weekend.
Comments like "Theres Dangerous wheelchair...Anybody see Dangerous"

Looks like I'll have to contact my urologist as it seems I now get bladder infections with just a showing of high nitrates. Protien and Blood values seem normal, the urine is smeely and cloudy.
I don't raly want to start a anti-biotic coursef tablets unless all 3 indicators are positive.

Okay DD,
I never said you were doing those things to excess, so no accusations or guilt should be had from my previous post. I'm just stating a fact. Have you tried cutting out completely drinking and smoking in order to rebuild your immune system?

Everyone says marijuana is so natural and clean compared to cigarettes. But the fact is that there are many more carcinogens in pot than tobacco. Those poisons really aren't doing your body any favors, except to deaden the nerve endings.--hehe

And alcohol lowers your immune system, hands down. So, you're admittedly going through all these tough times with terrible infections, but you continue to drink and smoke pot, right?

Well, I'm just suggesting a change for awhile, not a lifetime. See what happens.

Hope you're right Dave,,, I feel a bit better today, so maybe my immune system isn't too compromised, after all.

Hi qb
My skin is so hard and thick that even dracula can't get through. Let alone the hospital variety.
Thanks for your input. - Marijuana is a cntroversal drug and it should be remembered that it is a muscel relaxant, and as such, is a benefit for mild relief. Fortunatly I don't need baclofen and hope I never will do. I've never smoked since I woke up in a strange bed, in a srange room, filled with strange people with weights stretcing me out and my hand pointing at the ceiling. I vaporise with no ash production, just browned heated vegetable matter. Then..only ...when..
Need my heart and lungs in a state of good health for that operation thats always around the corner.
The wierdness of having repeat bouts of flue like illnesses is I find disturbing. Coupled with the -tive attitude of the doctors when I ask for advise, concerns me.
In days gone by it used to be said that you live for 25yrs after chord damage, then you die.
Ok thats no lnger true.......but what if there is something going wrong?????
