Well, I decided against the gym for two reasons:

1) There are no decent ones locally

2) I know I'll get bored to tears cos I'd rather be outdoors and the chances of me quitting would be high.

What I'm doing now is pushing myself *all* the time when I'm outdoors unless the terrain is extremely difficult (my garden is half an acre and I can cope well with that). We also have a nice circuit on my campus (just around the grounds) so I am doing that at lunch times and I'll build the number of circuits I do as I get stronger.

I've also discovered that Google Maps is my friend. I was in town yesterday and it enabled me to work out I'd pushed half a mile w00t.gif . We're lucky in that my local shopping are is on the coast and there's a nice smooth path with a slight incline right on the sea front so it doesn't feel like a chore. Next week I'm going for the mile.

Diet wise, mine has always been pretty healthy so I'm just needing to make small changes (not having a massively sweet tooth helps a lot in that department).

Oh yes, and I've signed up for fencing lessons. swordfight.gif
