Hi

I have problems holding up a landline to my ear due to arm problems etc any ideas on what I can use instead around home? I have a mobile that i get bad reception for in my flat and also have probs with the buttons due to manual dexerity issues, again also have probs not just using damned buttons but holding up to ear. hAVE MORE AN ISSUE WITH landline at moment though but any suggestions for either would be beneficial. I notice there was a post earlier re mobiles and bluetooth so that may answer that issue with mobile but not buttons .
Is there a way its possible to have a headset or something for a landline I am not good with techy stuff!!
Thanks

If holding the phone is a problem why not use speaker phone? Many mobile phones have a voice activation function, I suspect that you can get a similar thing for a landline although I don't know for sure.

I've no doubt that you have the same options there as we have here. I bought, for my eighty five year old father, a phone set,, from a local Walmart. It had the speaker function,, and the buttuns were 0ne inch square each. It also had a higher volume capability than standard phones.

Just call around to your version of our Wal/K mart. Ask them for something for granny,,, it will work well for you, too.

Try the Clarity Company. Also, the bluetooth headsets are available from several places online for home phones (given that the home phone has a standard headset jack). Try googling Plantronics, Motorola, etc.

Most of the major brands (Siemens, Panasonic, Samsung, etc) manufacture cordless handsets which have built in handsfree operation, i.e. on both the handset and the base unit. Sound quality is excellent. I've been using such a Siemens for over 8 years now, so it's not new tech. They're cheap, simple to use (one button to answer), and the batteries last for an entire 16 hour working day off the cradle.

Bluetooth headset for sure. They're also great for driving for those of us who drive--you can't use hand controls and hold a phone to your head! They vary in price but are well worth it.
