Cambridge vet school are doing research on dogs with SCI. I was passed their (Cambridge vet school) recent newsletter which reports the current work being undertaken. As I understand it, normally veterinary medicine stems from human medicine. However, the research they are undertaking - which "involves transplantation of olfactory ensheathing cells, obtained from the lining of the nasal cavity" - is interesting as, apparently, "the three tests they have set up have the major advantage that they can be conducted equally in humans as well as dogs, which makes possible direct translation of the results from one species to another. They are non-invasive, non-painful and functionally relevant."

Now, I don't really follow research on SCI, though I'm sure the whole olfactory thing isn't that new?? (Am sure there will be others here who know it all!) Anyway, if anyone wants the link to their site or contacts: http://www.vet.cam.ac.uk/news-and-events/scr/default.html

So what your saying is they can do the same thing with people. Not taking the stuff from the dog and putting it into a person? If thats the case I would try it as a clinical trial or something. But I dont think I would do the whole me in one bed, and rover in the other bed thing. Unless I knew there wouldnt be any doggie side affects. Like wanting to sniff my girlfriends butt. Or running around the house saying "Iiiitttttsss BBaaccccooonnnn!!!!!"
