Hi there

I am looking for a height adjustable bed that raisesd the bed horizontally so that the mattress is still flat. The ones on the market raise the head and feet but we don't need that. My partner is a tetraplegic and we would like to be able to have a single bed put together to a height adjustable bed so that we can be together. We have had a hospital bed for years now and I am sick of the look of it and want to create something that looks normal but that meets the needs of the carers. Does anyoene know of any height adjustable beds for either single or (ideally) a double mattress.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Hi Sue

A couple of things:

Do you need the whole bed just to be raised to a certain height or do you need the whole bed to raise up and down for the carers needs?

If you are looking for the latter, then a good place to start looking for impartial info is the LivingMadeEasy website - have directed you to the relevant page. Following the link also seems to show quite a bit of choice.

If it's the former, then you can get non-slip blocks to put underneath the casters/legs to get it to required height.

Not sure whether you want to buy new or 2nd hand, but there are a few beds for sale on my site (link at bottom of this post) and there are other places which advertise 2nd hand equipment: see the DLF's factsheet

Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks Guido, I'll take a look at the links. The bed needs to go up and down for the carers and I did look into this years ago and found something that you could put under a normal bed to lift it up but I have no idea what to 'search' for. I'll look at your links.
Thanks

No Problem. Once you take a look at the Living Made Easy website you'll start to pick up buzz words which you can then use for a google search.

Happy hunting...

You don't say where your from Sue. If you're in the UK like me, then I can send you a website of the bed I've got. Its height adjustable and also does the other things, but it looks like a normal bed. You can send me a PM in case I miss this thread.

Thanks Mike. I'm new to the forum so think I have been able to send you a PM. When my partner had his accident 10 years ago there was nothing like this available and we were busy getting on with our lives so now I;m looking into things again and there is so much info out there! This forum is wonderful.
