Has anyone heard of organization called 'Wheels for the World' or something like that? They use donated lightweight chairs to provide wheelchairs to people in undeveloped countries. I read about them somewhere but -of course- can't now remember where it was!

I have a Quickie XTR, mtn. bike tires, suspension, excellent chair and it would probably make someone's day! I'm moving and will longer haved a place to keep it.

Hi Michelle/thatshowiroll-
Great to talk with you! Where do you live? The reason that I'm asking is thast you're profile page didn't say. I'm willling to donate my chair, but I don't really want to pay $$ just to ship it. I'm sorry but I find it a little hard to believe that your Dr./therapists/etc. would just "turn you loose" without a wheelchair of some sort and some skills to be as independent as possible. If that happened, then someone along the line isn't doing their job. I know that not everyone, by a huge margin, has health insurance. But if you are in need of a wheelchair, then your doctor can write you a prescription for one, and then someone, the state or the country or whomever, will get you one. It may not and probably won't be the best chair--but it'll be a place to start.

I really don't mean to come across as harsh and I really hope that I'm not;I'm just a little concerned about legitimacy is all. There are an unfortunate amount of people who somehow "like' to imitate someone with disabilities and then use that to take advantage of people.

So if you could tell me a little more about yourself, then we'll work on getting you the help you need. Thanks!!
