Mobility scooter in hit-and-run

An 85-year-old woman has had to undergo surgery after being hit in a town centre by a woman riding a mobility scooter who failed to stop. H2kOther (26).gif

The woman had been walking past Marks and Spencer in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, at about 1250 BST on Saturday when she was hit.

Police said the injured woman broke her hip and arm and had other injuries to her leg.

She underwent surgery and is now said to be in a "comfortable" condition.

Officers urged anyone who saw the scooter rider to contact them.

She was described as white with shoulder-length hair and wearing a light-coloured top. The scooter was red.

Pc Derya Mustafa said: "The motorised scooter would probably have been quite slow moving and therefore it is very likely that someone would have seen it leaving the area at the time."

Wow.
Some poor, old, frail octogenarian brutally run down in the prime of her life, left for dead by yet another reject from a motorcycle gang.

And you guys have the poor taste and boorish nature to make fun. To joke and make light of her horrific situation.
My goodness, if I weren't rolling on the floor laughing my frigging ass off in a drunken stupor I'd be saddened by your callus attitudes.

Shame, shame, hic', shame. drunkz.gif

Sorry....right color chair (though mine is a manual) oh & more importantly wrong side of the pond. laugh.gif

Obviously driving wheelchairs & scooters are like driving cars.......sure theoretically it shouldn't be that difficult yet some just never seem to get the knack down to save their life. head_brick_wall-1.gif

I can understand how easy this kind of accident can happen, I was in Majorca last year and driving around the local market on a hired scooter, with not a care in the world. I put my bag around the handlebars of the scooter and it got caught on the accelerator, well the scooter tore into the crowd almost pinning an elderly woman to the ground.
If I could have ran I would have been out of there like a shot, as it was the crowd were staring at me as if I was a leper. The poor woman regained her composure and accepted my apology (albeit hesitantly).
No more bags on handlebars for me, I learnt my lesson.
