Well had a superpubic in for around 5 months or so now and its been changed about 4 times. Was due a changed last week and the local nurse couldn't remove it due to my bladder spasming and seeming to grip the cathater , so they decided to leave it and try again this week.

Turned up today and near enough a repeat of last time in that the spasams kicked in the prevented it being removed.

so looks like i've got to go in to get it removed at the hospital.

anyone had similar probs and know what there likely to try at the hospital?

Have they done SP catheter changes before? If new to it they could be making mistakes that have caused your bladder to spasm in response to traumatising it. Is the balloon being properly deflated? Don't know your injury level, are you liable to get AD if they were causing pain?

Little update

They managed to get it out at the hospital after a 2nd try, was apparently one of the hardest they've had.

My level of injury on paper is T6 but seen as i've got weakness in my hands I can't see how its not a C*.
But its not a complete as i've got no pain feeling below the chest but I can feel touch and can somehow move my big toe in the right foot.

with regards to AD if someone was to say hurt me either by pull the catheter very very hard or sticking something sharp into me leg then spasms will kick in and i'll get warm and eventually a slight headache.

I think the problem is that my body can feel the pain although not channel it to me as pain is the problem as anything that would cause pain results in spasms.
