Yea I'm not for sure how I did it, I woke up yesterday morning and my foot was slightly swollen. Went ahead and put on my shoes and went to work. Work up this morning and it was very swollen and shoe wouldn't even begin to fit. Went in and saw the Dr. and got an X-Ray and found out I had some how broke it, said the big toe bone was fractured. I've went over everything that I've done over the last few days and can't figure out what could have done it.

Set up an appointment for me to see a specialist on Thurs, but the best part of it all was when I went to leave. The Dr. said to me "I'd try to stay off your feet as much as possible for now". I just smiled and said, sure, I'll try, but I can't promise anything.

My initial reaction to your story and picture was to say " OW", But thats probably irrelevant really.

Does anyone else say " ow " when they abuse their numb bits ( don't be rude) even though it doesn't hurt?

Dang Tex! Guess this is one of those instances of " perks of being paralyzed".

Why is it medical people can be "so intelligent" & yet be oblivious of things like........"try not to put too much weight on that".

Hope it heals quickly.

Pistol, I am guilty of 'owing' and 'ouching' when I do things that I know would have really hurt.

I must also plead guilty to 'ouching' from time to time when I do something looks like it should of hurt!

I do that too, mind you when I hit my knee or something it really does hurt

I do the "Ouch" even 2 days AFTER I notice I have a bruise or a scratch. I have to make up for when I missed it happening.

While I was in Houston about a week ago, I either jammed my finger or slightly fractured it while mom was getting me dressed. NOW THIS ONE DID HURT!

I also am guilty of saying "ow" when something really doesn't hurt... I think it's a reflex type of thing...

After they broke my leg, I asked the doc how long before I could walk on it again

Yea when he first came in and started the examination he asked if it was hurting bad. I said not at all, he then asked if it would hurt to bad for him to examine it and if I would holler, I said I might holler but no it wouldn't hurt at all. BTW, this is a Dr. I have been going to for 3 years. I was amazed with him asking all of the questions he did and am thinking it is time to find a new Dr.

He sent me to a specialist. The nurse for the specialist scheduled me for an appointment at noon, I show up 10 minutes early for paper work since it was the first time there. Go back at 12:30(30 min late). Have the nurse ask a few questions, nurse leaves, comes back at 1:10 and says sorry for the delay but the doc must have taken a long lunch as he isn't back yet. So wtf did they schedule me at noon if he takes his lunch then? They knew I'd be waiting from noon to 1:00 regardless. Finally at 1:35 he shows up, ask a couple of questions (does it hurt?, rate the pain from 1-10, have you been staying off of it?, would a soft boot help for walking?) I couldn't get it through his head that I was freaking paralyzed and couldn't feel it at all. He finally does the worse wrap job I have ever seen, tells me to leave it like that for 48 hours and then I could take it off at night and rewrap it each morning. Then he sent me on my way, Waited for over a hour and a half for a 7 minute visit. Charged me $30 on top of what ever they charged my insurance.

I had to wrap it again when I got home as his wrap job was coming undone already. They gave me a prescription to get it x-rayed again in 3 to 4 weeks and then visit him again. Not a chance in hell I'll go back to that Dr. and waste my money.

Gotta love the US health care system.

That's what I need! Maybe a soft boot would help me walk! Freakin genius. Did he win his medical degree in a game of craps?
