I really need some help. My boyfriend has been in a wheelchair since february last year. We have tickets to the O2 in LOndon for Bon Jovi and really need to stay for 2 nghts as we are in Scotland.

We are struggling to find a hotel near the O2 with a roll in shower and really struggling to find a hotel with a shower chair (needs wheels for John to push himself).

My boyfriend is a C6/7 slightly independant tetraplegic.

If anyone has any ideas for first time travellers or specifically for the O2 London I would really appreciate your help.

We will be flying so we have a restricted baggage allowance.

I stayed at one of the hotels near the Excel Exhibition Centre across the river from the O2 Arena. There are about half a dozen hotels there, but I cant remember their names.

We caught the tube from there to the O2 Arena - only a few minutes. All OK in wheelchair.

Waw! So you got on the london underground ok in a wheelchair?! That is good! All the hotels we are calling say they do not have a shower chair with wheels we can use?

I am going down to the o2 in a few weeks for the ATP tennis finals and we are staying at this Holiday Inn which is 5 minutes from the o2 Arena.

We are flying down to London City airport and it is then 2 stops on the Docklands Railway followed by 2 stops on the Underground to the hotel/arena. All accessable

I've stayed at the hotel mentioned above, Express by Holiday Inn in Greenwich and their wheelchair accessible room has a wheel-in shower and they have duvets! (always a bonus...), it's just a short push to the O2. there is a Chinese restaurant below which I found to be excellent.

If you need a cab, specify to the staff that you need a black cab else they'll ring a private hire firm and you could end up with a people carrier and a driver who doesn't know where Trafalgar Square is but that's another story........

Sorry I can't help with the shower chair, I always take my own travel chair.

I have a nuprodx shower chair which I bought from America several years ago, there are a few more to choose from nowadays, the thing to consider is the weight as you'll probably be the one carrying it around when you travel together. My shower chair weighs 13kg but it does have four small wheels and my carer pushes me, however you can get manual travel chairs, have a look at the threads below.

It is definitely worth investing in a travel shower chair, yes it does mean you have more luggage but it is very rare that you'll find a hotel that will provide a shower chair and even when you think they've provided one you'll probably find that their idea of a shower chair will vary greatly to your idea of a shower chair.

Having my own travel shower chair has enabled me to travel all over the world and stay in places that would usually be unsuitable so it is definitely worth the investment.

You will be getting the jubilee line (bottom right corner of the map), this the newest line and is completely accessible.

All the stations that are accessible have a disabled sign as apposed to the white dot. Just incase you wan to go anywhere else while your here.

I'm afraid I can't help you on the hotel situation, but it looks like thats been covered
