So I have some awesome news! Quickie/Sunrise Medical (Canada) approached me via the sales rep for my current chair, a Quickie Ti, and asked me if I'd like to be a model for the new Q7 chair, which is the North American version of the Helium. I, of course, said yes! Modeling gig aside, I had seen the Q7 on Sportaid and thought it looked really really cool. The chair is not on the market yet in Canada and has just come out in the US. Quickie is giving me a brand new Q7 and I'm getting the chair around November 20th. They tricked it out and customized it for me so I'm verrrrrry excited. I was just wondering if anyone has used/tried the new Q7 and what your thoughts are. I briefly tried a demo Q7 at the Sunrise offices and it felt much lighter than my titanium chair. It can be configured down to 14lbs which I think is amazing. It's made out of 7000 series aluminum which is lighter than titanium and apparently stronger. I will definitely post pics when I get it (they're putting me in Q7 posters and brochures as well, lol) Can't wait! I feel like a nerd getting excited over a new chair but I am! Yay!

Yes got one (had it about 6 weeks) and it's even better than it looks. I've been blown away with how good it is. It weighs virtually nothing, even compared to my Quickie Ti which was seriously light. Love the brake operation (no fiddling about under your seat to put them on/off but they still stay out of the way of your thumbs), worth paying for the bolted on brakes. Don't get the lightweight back as it's very shallow and doesn't give you any room to let the canvas out to sit back into the backrest. I didn't get their wheels either preferring to stick with spinergy which while a bit heavier are much easier to grip with the wide spoke spacings when getting in and out of the car. Carbon fibre sideguards look great but are a pure extravagance (but who could resist?) and the upgrade upholstery is well worth it.

Awesome! I've got just under two more weeks to wait for mine but because Sunrise is using my chair for photo shoots and stuff, they let me choose whatever options I wanted and gave it to me all for free, stuff that I would never be able to afford otherwise and that our healthcare system would never have paid for. I went with the Spinergy LX rims (currently use Spox for everyday) and got the FlexRim option. I debated between carbon fiber side guards and the aluminum ones but went with aluminum because they're a little higher and they can be painted to match the rest of my chair. If I recall, I got the ultra light footrest which I believe is carbon fiber. I don't use brakes on my chair so I didn't get brakes put on but I went with Quickie's new back which is similar to the Corbac, I'm not sure if it's the ultralight weight you mentioned. The Corbac I have on my current chair will probably fit on the new chair so if I don't like the back, I'll just stick the Corbac on there. They're also doing some custom paint job for me which I love, being a girly girl, lol. I'm also currently using a Ti and when I briefly used the demo Q7, I was shocked at how much lighter it feels than my Ti. I'm really excited to get out there and start using it, especially at the barn where I keep my horse, on the ski hill, etc., and see how it does outside of city 'riding'. Glad you like it!!!

If you want to look really geeky ask the Quickie people what the modulus of elasticity
is for this 7000 series tubing.

What do they call the brake option you have on your Helium? It sounds much better than my scissor brakes. Also, what is the upgrade upholstery, leather? Any chance of photos of the brakes and upholstery? Finally, does the cantilever frame flex when the castors hit bumps? I have a second-hand titanium cantilever frame chair (RGK HIlite) but I think the frame flex tends to make the castors snag on rough surfaces, throwing me forward sometimes. The Helium sounds very promising.

I have a mate in Tasmania, Australia who's got his Q7 on the way to him as well. He's a 'model' for them also.

I just want to know what colour thong. Colour matched to the chair, or contrasting?

As a long time viewer of said posters I say matching. Most of the photograph type posters I tend to admire have a target colour (one of Octobers was very orange pumpkin themed and December is almost ALWAYS red and white) and they tend to add effect to the photograph without taking attention away from the *ahem* target.

Hahha well you guys will be OH SO SURPRISED to know that my chair (of course) has pink on it. It's not a pink chair (no thanks!) but it's got the silver titanium finish with a couple pearly pink (like oyster-ish) accents on the caster fork, the bracket the holds the frame together and the spokes are pink and white. As Ches said, it's like an Elvis cadillac, lol. As for those posters, who knows! They want "lifestyle" shots ie. shots of me riding my horse with the chair on the ground beside me. I suggested they take pics of me ice diving, coming out of the hole, with the chair on the ice

Hi, I think Russ has got the composite direct frame mount brakes (same as me) they are very easy to use and sort of flick on and off.

The upgrade upholstery is alcantara (man-made suede) its very comfy and grippy too but not worth 250 quid if you ask me.

The has very little flex compared to cantilever Ti frames.

I opted out of the lightweight back as I use an ADI carbon fibre back and also choose the Spinergy LX wheels for the same reason as Russ.
