Hello everyone or should I say G'day from SYDNEY Australia.
My first post so will keep it brief. Firstly I'm so pleased to find this forum. Scanning the pages over the last few days, I found lots of valuable info and tips.
I'm a single fit male T11 complete on 3 March this year. I fell asleep whilst driving back from Queensland and hit a tree. Thankfully no one else was in the car and I didn't hit anyone else. That would have been very hard to live with. One stupid mistake. I thought I could drive for another hours or so before taking a break...just bloody stupid!
Multiple leg/foot/ankle/rib and cheek fracutres and severed spinal cord.
Have been out of rehab for about 7 weeks now and trying to get on with adjusting. It was so much easier in rehab when most people were on wheels. Now in the real world, I'm definitely in the minority and still struggle with people staring at me!
Hoping I can maintain a postivie disposition and just taking it one day at a time.
Look forward to contributing going forward.
Cheers

"How's it Goin'" sydneywheels. Welcome to the site from NZ ;) .. loads of informative, & lived words written here.
Good luck handling reality.. Maybe you could seek out a SCI support group in your area, while you adjust to life on the other side of walking.

You get used to the stares, and can even use it to your advantage in the pubs. Get the sheela's looking your way first, in a GOOD way!
Welcome.
