I go to Cornwall quite a bit, I'm a C5/6, but I do have someone to help push me around.

I go to St. Ives quite a bit, but it's very hilly, and there are cobble stones in some areas. You may need someone to help you push your chair around some of the streets, as they can be steep. St. Ives also has the Tate Modern Gallery which is wheelchair accessible. There are a couple of RADAR toilets as well.

Goonhilly Satalite Station is interesting, and wheelchair accessible.

The Eden project is good, but you will probably need help pushing around as it's quite steep in places. Eden will also be busy in the summer, so beware.

Sennen Cove is a good place for an evening meal. There is a beach restaurant overlooking the sandy beach, and the restaurant has an accessible toilet. The carpark is on a slope though, and you will probably have to book a table for an evening meal.

There is a Aquarium in Newquay which you can park right outside with your blue badge. The Aquarium is at the bottom of a cliff, so you wouldn't want to push there. Fistral bay has a good car park, and there is a restaurant which is accessible. You can watch the surfers whilst having lunch, but it can get busy in the summer.

The Minack Theatre is wheelchair accessible, but again, there are some very steep slopes, so you would probably need assistance.

A lot of the time it's just a case of crossing your fingers and trying different places, now and again you'll find a real treasure in Cornwall, but there's also the odd hobnail boot as well!

Simon.

We stay just down the road from you just outside Portreath.

We rent a holiday cottage on a working farm called Trengove Farm, would you believe it, they farm potatoes to make crisps for Walkers crisps in Leicester!

Here's where we stay: http://www.trengovefarm.co.uk/

We're next going down there in August.

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and found this fairly old thread about Cornwall. I'd really like to go back down to Cornwall as it's been years since i went. There are a lot of happy memories down there for me. I used to spend time in my child-hood in North Cornwall, around Tintagel and Trebarwith. I'd just so love to go back to that area but I can't find anywhere suitable. Has anybosy got any suggestions? The only place I've found that might be suitable is http://www.self-catering-cornwall.org.uk but it does not look all that nice to be honest! i was dreaming of the cute country cottage.....

Try Penrose Burden a dear old lady called nancy runs the place, its lots of converted farm buildings, great for disabled and a local farmers wife provides a menu and delivers to your door if you dont fancy cooking, around the corner (but not in your face) is a holiday park called Hanger Manor with a bar, entertainment and swimming pool etc.
