There was an exhibition here in New Zealand recently, of paintings done by mouth painters. I didnt get to see it personally as it was in the other end of the country to me but I saw some photos of some of the work in a newsletter. I was EXTREMELY IMPRESSED!!! These people paint holding a paintbrush in their mouth. They paint better than me and I have two good hands!! Wow!! I wish I could have met some of them. So I was wondering if any of you guys paint or draw??

I am in the UK and here I do a lot of charity work for the mouth/foot artists. They regularly send out Christmas cards, etc. Some of the paintings are amazing.

Personally, not being so badly crocked I do not do that, however, I do know of one guy who does and it is amazing to watch him.

I've got to agree with you on this one - I've seen lots of mouth / foot painting exhibitions (either through the rehab units or at the disabled veterans organization) - these artists are amazing and inspiring. I always buy their new year and greeting cards too - its a great way to spread awareness.

I'm no expert but i do graphic design and multimedia and drawing is fun but takes some practice i'll tell ya. I use photoshop and illustrator to create my drawings which i'm still learning how to draw. There are some talented people out there, hard to find at times but they are there.

I used to do a fair bit of mouth paintings. I can no longer do them for 2 reasons firstly because I started getting bad migraines due to trying to focus on the canvas while only being about 20cm or 8 inches away from the canvas. I then had a serious operation in 2003 after my last African safari, so now I get bad muscle pain in my neck. Here is a photo of me in Las Vegas in 1997 with one of my mouth paintings of the African big five. I ended up selling this while at the Safari Club International convention
for $20,000 I donated the proceeds to help other disabled people enjoy hunting and conservation.

All I can say is.......WOW!!!!!.....Nice work! Shame you cant paint anymore. I bet you miss it.

yes. not only painter, also a graphic designer and photographer.

it just involves some practice and a lots of hard work. after that you see such way of creating your artworks as normal as if you use hands. it truly doesn't matter whether you paint using mouth, hands, ... or ass. ;) what counts is your imagination and how good you're at turning your ideas into reality.

Ha! using your ass would be interesting...I mean how would you see your work??? I suppose you could use an appropriately placed mirror!!!

Hi milosh...yeah I guess it doesnt matter what body part you use, I think that if something happened to me and I could no longer use my hands to paint and draw I would find another way. I think its one of those things that sneaks up on you and becomes a part of who you are.

i do agree with you on that point. what made us survive as kind is that adaptability.
