Today's post of Chapter 7 part ii ends the first Part of LOVE NOTE. Ten or so persons seem to be reading here and about the same number are reading over on Andy's board. Gary, who's been active on both boards, has liked LOVE NOTE (quite a bit) less than he did THE HEALING. I like it more, myself, but since I'm working on it a little every day I'm biased. I don't really want suggestions about what I might have done or do differently, though I'll certainly read them. I am, however, curious about your response. A lot of times when I've read funny books, I've been more unconscious than not of the humor and found them extremely intense. THE GINGERMAN comes to mind. I read it in college shortly after it was written, when it was still banned in the United States, and while I was very much aware how dark the book was, I was remarkably unaware how funny it was. Are you finding LOVE NOTE funny? Embarrassing? Depressing? Titillating? Inspirational? Curious? Informative? Boring? Do you dislike Arthur? Admire him? Worry about him? Care about him? Do you think it's a good story poorly written? A bad story well written? Do you expect to keep on reading it? Do you think Arthur's behavior with Faith either moral or immoral? Do you think my posting the book here and on Andy's site moral or immoral?
I'm not trying to get you to post an opinion with which I'll then argue, but I probably will respond if any of you choose to Reply.
