Hi Michelle,

you probably won't remember me but you're the girl who works for the travel agency, aren't you? I was injured in '98 and am C5/C6 complete, Rachel Smith, linguist, living in Sale, S. Manchester with fiance and 24 hr 'scarer' who is actually pretty cool-I'm getting married in September. Anyway, I met you once at Southport SIU and just thought I'd say hey. As we all know, female SCI's whether para/tetra/lumbar, complete, incomplete etc. are pretty thin on the ground, so is good to form some kind of alliance at times.

I have been thinking recently about forming some kind of 'forum' type thing supporting SCI women with issues linked to sexuality. Is currently a bit sketchy, but I have recently had some problems linking to that area and the whole issue of being a sexually active tetra seems to be like some kind of crime, even to some of the doctors in the SIU. I would like to use it as some kind of point to share and solve experiences, similar to this one. I don't know about you, but there is so much testosterone and male post 'discharge' (pardon the pun) sexual support in spinal units and I would like to see more for us girls. Tetras/paras/lumbars, we all have similar issues in that department and I do feel pretty isolated on this front quite often, how about you? Think it's about time for some feiry girl power and a lot less hush hush. Is it just me or do you have similar thoughts sometimes? Not just talking about SIU's either, family planning clinics, normal gynaes, GP'S, district nurses all seem to have a similar attitude.

Anyway, would be good to have your thoughts on the matters.

Rachel
