i think that you should really consider it for some time if you are in two minds about it.
i've had my for 14 years, after having it done my tounge became twice its size than it normally was for a week but i could eat soup and soft bread but my tounge did go down but you will talk funny until it does. as for keeping it clean the only thing you can do is wash your mouth out with salt in cooled boiled water. DON'T use any mouth wash with antiseptic in it as it will try to close the whole and can be painfull. you would be suprised how fast your tounge heals.
all i can say is really think about it.
take care

As a doctor I strongly advise against a pierced tongue as you are leaving yourself wide open to all sorts of mouth infections. However, if you want to go ahead, nobody can stop you. Just be aware of all the pitfalls.
Personally, I find body piercings ugly things and cannot see the sense. Ear-rings are different. However, the number of mount infections and naval infections I have seen would shock you. I wont tell the tales here.

I think you should, if you don’t like it you can take it out and the hole will close up (the tongue always will) its not hard to keep clean (mouth wash 3 times a day) as for the hard eating that will not last that long at all maybe a week. (For me it was only two days, my dad was two weeks) but if you plan on getting in any kind of career its not professional at all.

Goodness. It seems that this is really looked down upon, huh I got my tongue pierced about a year and a half ago....kind of a spur of the moment thing. I got it done on a Tuesday. My tongue didn't swell at all. No one even noticed. I finally had to tell my then husband on Saturday that I got it done. No one really notices it to this day except when I stick out my tongue. I don't have bad breath, I don't rinse with mouthwash 3 times a day. I do make sure I brush my jewelry when I brush my teeth though. It is really a personal decision. Some people play with thier jewelry and it is really distracting and unattractive. If your partner likes it then why not? If you decide you don't like it, it won't take long to close.

That pretty much says it all. It's a personal choice, thus I didn't vote. If i was thinking of doing it, I wouldn't ask random people on a message board over the internet as I could be asking a group that is 90% extremely against such things. If your think you want it, then do it, give it a chance, see how it effects you, if you then decide you don't care for it get rid of it. Personally I don't care for pierced tongues, but the naval ones are pretty sexy as are nipples and on some people a pierced eye brow is pretty cool looking.
Some one said you only have 1 tongue, and your right, but you also only have 1 life, live it how you want and not how others want.

If you want to, go for it. But be aware of the dangers, not anything related to the SCI, but I have heard a few horror stories about tongue piercings. I wanted to get a piercing recently but was too scared to get my tongue done, and my ears are already pierced so I went ahead and got my nose pierced. It can be a pain when my carers are helping me get dressed in the morning, but I love it and I know that I can take it out anytime I want. I'm just too scared to go near cartilage or the tongue.

(MY THIRD POST)...cunnilingus is ant art (truly). firstly, she has to be in the mood, and relaxed enough for you to go downtown and make a difference. once shes in that tranquil state it's up to you.
(my technique foreplay)...lol, i go for the out an in approach. he more turned on your lady is, the easier and faster she will cum. you have to kiss, lick, nibble, and suck on all of the usually untouched areas...back of the knees, inner thighs, toes, etc...AND to send her over the top with teasing excitement, suck and lick right outside the outer labia...the rest is as follows above (minus my "trade secrets).
i know it's kinda graphic, but im a newbie thus,i i aint got nothing to lose...and its true!

Hello
If you want to, go ahead. Personally I think you should,

but that’s me, I find piercing

erotic

. However, some people don’t like it

.
If you’re planning to have your tongue pierced, go ahead

, it doesn’t hurt. The only thing is that if you eat for the next 3 days, the movement of the tongue will feel uncomfortable.
In my opinion you should go for it

.
By the way, if later you don’t like it (or want it), just stop wearing the tongue ring, the hole will close.

Most people I know who had it done chipped pieces out of their teeth. Are you willing to take the chance of destroying your teeth and the huge dental bills? Also are you physically able to clean all around it well to make sure it don't get infected? And how will it affect your swallowing? I'm a c6 complete and I know sometimes I just start choking on nothing but saliva. You should really think about that before getting it done. You will also have to gargle salt water. And I also think you should really think about it because clearly you are unsure or you wouldn't have came here asking if you should or not. Why are you thinking about getting it done?

If you want it, who cares what other people think. I bet it's not going to feel that good. I have 3 holes in each ear, my belly button, had both nipples done, but the paramedics that life flighted me pulled those out. Then the holes closed up while I was in the hospital. I also have 2 tattoos. Pain doesn't really bother me, but the tongues gotta hurt.

Well,i know when i was an AB,i loved when a woman had a pierced tongue. It drove me crazy and man i was loud lol.
Since you're a guy,i don't know. What does your lady think about it? You should make the final decision with her. I know it stimulated me but the penis and clit are different. I haven't heard a lot about it being bad.
You have to think about these things when it comes to pleasing her with your tongue.
1. Is she sensitive down there
2. Will it add or lessen to her being stimulated
3. If she's not sensitive, will it add to her sensation.
I haven't read all the replies but its very common,so as long as you are willing to take care of it,why not.

I'd say if you want to get it done then do it! As far as bad breath tongue swelling...never met a person with a tongue piercing who had those issues. If you get it done make sure to get it done from a professional and from there just take great care of it and you'll be fine. If you are thinking of getting one for sexual purposes...from my personal experience it really doesn't make much of a difference. You should just focus on practicing...cause practice makes perfect!

Well...i would say NO don't do it. i regretted having mine done when i was 9. i became very depressed that my parents got divorced. so i went to get one at the tongue one at the belly, one on the cartilage of my right ear (i have 3 more piercing on my right ear that is not the cartilage), 2 at the left ear and one lower lip piercing. and the one at my tongue swelled. it hurt a lot and i could not eat for days! i was actually thinking of getting a tongue split ( a tongue splitted into half like the snake!) but in the end, the piercer said he don't think i'm ready for that as it is very pain and i am too young. so i had no choice. But, if you get the tongue piercing, your tongue will get wider and you will have some problems while eating and speaking sometimes. well if you really want to have one, think twice before you do it. under the tongue there are many nerves and if the piercer pierced it wrongly who might now what will happen to your tongue or body? well think before you do it. i really regretted doing it. but in the end i decided to let it heal back to it's normal self!

I was a nudist prior to my SCI (I have not yet ventured back into that scene but I'm starting to think about it. We're considering Desire, Riviera Maya or Los Cabos for this fall/winter. I need a vacation!) and I like the ornamentation of diamond jewelry in my ears, nipples, navel and cha-cha. I don't have my tongue pierced, however. I don't think they make diamond jewelry for tongues, but who knows. hehe. Notwithstanding, I would be too scared of the pain. The tongue is a pretty thick piece of flesh. But if YOU want to and YOU like it, that's the most important thing. I wouldn't worry about what other people think. Live your own life and they can live theirs. If you change your mind, you can always remove it. Do make sure you have it done by a professional in an uber-hygenic piercing studio. It should resemble a doctor's office. Surgical gloves should be worn and all tools and jewelry is individually wrapped and used only once. Do some research on the best studios in your city. Lastly, I have NEVER had a problem with ANY of my piercings...except that the doctors had to remove the jewelry when I had my SCI for the MRI. I put everything back in when I was in rehab and feeling a bit better.
The whole bad breath thing argument is just wrong. Bad breath comes from your stomach...unless someone has poor oral hygene and has a rotting piece of meat wrapped around the piece of jewelry! I wore braces for three years as a teenager and they were the old kind with the metal bands that wrap around your teeth and believe me I was extremely conscious of my oral hygene. I brushed and used the stupid tools to clean in and around the braces and rinsed with mouthwash. I would check with my sister before going out and ask, "Do I have bad breath?" So don't listen to that argument.
Further, the whole argument that if 'god' wanted you to have a hole in your tongue... I'd bet that those same people prefer women who have soft, smooth, shaved legs! Well, if 'god' wanted us to have soft, smooth, shaved legs... Don't get me started on the 'god' delusion.
If YOU would like a pierced tongue, get it done.

I know this is an old thread and whoever this person is, has probably already done what they were going to do.
But shit, these are some silly ass questions!
Do what the hell you want.
Tell you why, and what to do with it?? What do I win if I give you the right answer?
Hell yes, DO IT! You'll look hip slick and cool, baby!
Or do you want the best, most creative answer?
All the boys'll want you!
What to do with it?
Improve your fellatio techniques. What else do you want to hear?
Or if I think you should not?
Well shit, I can answer that one too.
It would piss yer Mom off, an' why piss yer Mom off? I mean shit, she did carry yer dumb ass fer

I didn't even think of piercing my ear till I turned 50. Now I have a big 00 gauge black ring like a pirate in my left ear and people say it looks really cool. Part of my mid-life crisis. Getting a tattoo soon as I get the cake together. A whole sleave. Biomechanical. h.r.giger type stuff. I'm a guy of extreems.

I agree with Motor, I had mine pierced after my accident and had two tattoo's after my accident and my doctor told me I may not heal right cause my immune system is not working as proficiently... but I don't listen to him very much and do my own thing and both my tattoo's and piercing went without a hitch. So I say live hard and ask questions later... no be safe but do what you want...
The tongue ring does require you to get use to it though and your speak will be kinda strange at first, you might sound like you have a lisp for a few but it goes away... just adjust your ball size if you can't get to talking normally after a while..

I had mine done a while back. I have to admit, it was fun to play with. Especially for you gum chewing, lip smacking, bubble blowers ...and/or you kinky types

(guilty

) Well, they are fun

. Anyways, after 8 years, a few painful chips off the teeth, a few dental bills, and well, a few more painful chips and and a few more dental bills, I finally let it go. I guess I just never found the right size (if you consider wearing all the wierd, colorful, extravagant, spikes, jems, troll dolls, ticklers, thin bars, thick bars, smalls, and big balls actually trying to fit for the right size).
Only the 1st few weeks kinda sucks then feels better but gets taking used to. Try it if you feel you want to but just be careful of the tongue during the 1st month then watch the teeth the rest of the time. At least, that's my experience. I'd get it back if I could, but I don't know if I could handle the numb tongue for those 1st few weeks again.

I enjoyed mine actually. It didn't really hurt to have it done either. First, take Aleve or some other NSAID before having the piercing. Then have a large amount of crushed ice on hand for afterwards. Have a lot of the ice for a few days and you'll be fine. Be CAREFUL with your first hot drink. That was one surprise that really lit me up. Anyway, the ONLY reason I removed mine is that I'm now in a management position which will give some contact with the VP and owner of my company.
Do what you feel is right for you. Don't let others make the decision.

Each to their own. I dislike them as I can't see the point of what is in my personal opinion, mutilation although if you are comfortable with it, then go for it. Tongue piercings can damage the enamel on your teeth and are great for training you to have a speech impediment. I was at a local supermarket a few years back and the checkout girl had a nose piercing. It was obviously infected as she was picking at it, pushing her fingernail underneath it, then touching my groceries and her nose was swelling around it like a big fat zit. DISGUSTING! I did hear a few years back that tattoos are for people who are searching for some sort of an identity, maybe it is the same with piercings and could be why you need to ask the opinion of others? If you want it, get it but for me that is a no thanks. I prefer to keep my surgical stainless on the inside where in my opinion it belongs.
