Hope Simon doesnt mind me giving a plug for this, but I have for my sins volunteered to start up a Northern branch of Disabled Parents Network. At the moment they have nothing further north than Liverpool, and in my experience support for parents is pretty much lacking in the north.
If you dont know, the network provides info, support, advice, get togethers, meetings and family days out for disabled parents. Also running campaigns for more accessible family places, which I personally find all a bit of a nightmare! Im hoping to get something going to cover Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear and Co Durham, depending on support and interest. A huge area to start with I know!

So if youd like more info, interested in coming along or know someone who might please contact me. You dont need to commit to hours and hours, just make the effort to come along to something occasionally would be a good start, and hey its great to meet other parents and moan over coffee and cake for an hour!!!!!

At the moment I dont have any further details as Im just starting to put together ideas/info/venus/places to go etc etc. Looking at starting over the summer, but if anyone has any suggestions, please.... let me know! Also if there is support or interest we might have a look at the scottish borders as well!
