That is awesome.

The foam pit is the greatest idea ever

Nice one... Did Ricky get hurt landing in the foam pit?

The idea has been going around in my head also.

That's pretty cool although, the trial and error when it comes to the real deal will probably end up killing him. We can't bail properly like a able bodied person can. Ricky will end up going where the bike goes and I have seen them land upside down many times. It won't be pretty.

Ricky had been working on the backflip idea for the past year, it was not a spur of the moment deal. He says the foam pit landing was pretty soft, he did say it was pretty hot in there when he was upside down waiting to get dug out by his buddies.

To put your minds at ease he is not going to try it outside the foam pit.... way too much risk.

He's currently recovery from a shoulder surgey that he had last wednesday, he had the shoulder fixed that was injured in the Baja 500 last june. He wanted to try the backflip before the surgery so he could be thinking about how to perfect it while he is healing over the next 3 months.

The next time he try's it he will be on his new factory 450 KTM. He feels on that bike in 1st gear off a different ramp ( a super kicker, it's steeper) he will be able to get the rotation he needs to complete it.

The problem with completing the rotation and being able to do it every time in the foam, will be that it will seem possible to do it without the foam.

What then????????

Oh my! That's insane ... he could totally be crushed by the bike. Just because you're disabled doesn't mean you can't become more disabled.

hiya,

Well, unless the titanium 'rodding' is all the way top to bottom of the spine, then there is going to be weak spots at the spot where the 'rod' or plating starts and finishes. ( In fact, even if it did go all the way top to bottom of the spine, a) restricted movement and b/ weak points at the spinal axis/atlas and coccyx)
