Hi All,
Over the past 5 years I have been on Pain meds for sever pain in relation to abdomenal spasms. My spasms are not all the time but ocassionally but severe when I get them. Usually they are related to bowels and gas . I have tried everything but spasms seem to just get worse . Does anyone else have these problems. T-6 Para 41 years....

I'm not sure if this is similiar, but I had bladder spasms that would then trigger spasms in my legs as well. To treat the bladder spasms the doctor prescribed oxytrol patches. They are bladder control patches yet somehow they have reduced and just about eliminated my bladder spasms altogether.

For my leg spasms I have had excellent results from getting botox injections into my inner thigh. I got the shots every 90 days, and eventually the spasms stopped and I no longer needed to continue the shots. I am not sure if they can give botox injections into the abdoman. Also, if the bowels are what is triggering the spasms then I don't think the botox would work. It mainly works on muscles.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Respectfully,

I’m a similar level to you but really tricky commenting on something like spasm or pain cos what it means to one person aint the same as another. So I’ll just chuck a few comments about and you see if any are remotely relevant.

I used to get very tight abdominal spasm. In those days I didn’t have a para pot – people would comment on my flat tummy (while I struggled for breath)…and I suppose it could be called painful though I preferred to think of it as discomfort.

Turns out it must have largely been related to a tightly reflexive bladder because down the line I needed a bladder op – they did an augmentation to enlarge the bladder. That resulted in a relaxed (and very functional) bladder and, he presto, most of the strong abdominal spasms went with it. Hello para pot.

Other things I’ve found to relax the abdominals etc is plenty of exercising like weeding the garden but swimming is best of you can organise it; daily time out (after lunch) lying stretched out face down for at least 20 or 30mins and maybe throwing in some push ups. I’ve also heard that marijuana can be beneficial but that is not an option for many.

I agree with nomis on the afternoon stretch. I like my marijuana just before I lay down. It really helps to relax me for a good stretch and possibly a nap if I have the time. I have a lot less of the painful little quick jabs as well as the long slow pains that build up in intensity, sometimes they are the worst pains I get. A good stretch usually helps.
I think the marijuana is to blame for my newly acquired para pot belly. I get the munchies and then eat junk sometimes a lot.
Would botox possibly help my terrible leg pains ? They are so f#*!ing bad!

Botox Could work Many have had great success with it. Another thing that works well is METHADONE It`s mre of a last resort thugh as it is a narcotic and you WILL become physically dependant on it. Maryjane Also worked with me but i really didn`t want to do lung damage so i opted for the Methadone.
