Any quads sleep in regular beds? My fiance and I want to share a bed and turn minamally at night. Any ideas?

My wife and I recently purchased a 11" thick dual memory foam (Sealy) queen sized bed that has a built in vibrator, and the head and foot raises and lowers........ I love it, I can lay for 8 hours witout any red marks....... Spent $3,200 at a local store for it...... Then found the same one with adjustable frame on the internet for about $1,000 less with free shipping.... I can post the link if you want it...
I tried the tempur pedic, but didn't like it..... For 20 some years we slept on a soft side water bed, I really liked it, but it didn't raise the head or foot......

For years my husband and i slept in an ordinary double bed before up grading to a king size He is C5/6. Never has he had to turn during the night as he sleeps on a huntliegh trancell alternateing presure mattress.This makes his side of the bed 4"higher, therefore on my side of the bed i had a piece of memory foam cut 4" thick so we could sleep level.
I could not cope with turning during the night,My husband has never ever had a presure sore!
We bought the pressure mattress.as the distrct nurse said they would supply one , but would only supply one that thay use ,which was a lot deeper, They have never helpped us in any way.
IF you wanted to try a TRANCEL mattress Huntliegh hire them out.

Jim has been a quad c3-c7 for 3 years. He sleeps in a hospital bed and is very attached to it. He is 6'4" weighs 230 so we need a bed that raises up and down and the head raises. I want to get a full size bed for him for Christmas so we can sleep together. sometimes his texas cathertor comes off during the night and it gets the bed wet, so we need something very comfortable yet a way to protect it.
Any ideas would sure help. Twana

See my posts above, I use those cheap underpads my wife gets at Wal-Mart to keep it dry,.......

We have a King size Sealy foam mattress, but not sure if it's the same as Jim's. We've had it for 4 years now and don't like it. We can't flip the mattress over, we can only rotate it. The best bed we have is actually in our first guest room and it's a Queen Sealy with springs, but has a nice foamy top. It gives us the support we need, but it doesn't cause any redness. We're working on cashing in on our Sealy warranty again, which is pretty good if you bought a good mattress to begin with. All our mattresses have a 10 year warranty and if there are any indentations an inch or more that will not pop back up, they'll replace it. We're hoping to get a King size mattress that is the same model as our old Queen. Hubby is 6'2" and when he flips over, he takes up half the bed and then some even with a king.
Not all mattresses work for all people, so it would be great if you could get a store to allow you to use one for about 90 days or at least 30, before you actually accept it as a done deal.
As far as wetness goes, my hubby never cathes, he uses a urinal. But sometimes there is a little spillage and for a while I used the disposable pads you can buy at drug stores or Walmart, Target, etc., but they are thin and the plastic tends to make hubby sweat, even with it under the sheet and mattress pad. I get catalogs from a company called Dr. Leonard's and they sell all types of equipment and such to help people with disabilities and they have these mattress pads that are quilted and the bottom is strong plastic so nothing leaks through and there is more padding in between hubby and the plastic so he doesn't sweat. I bought a couple of them. They are washable and have held up for a couple of years now. This catalog actually has very inexpensive stuff I've bought throughout the years. Much cheaper than going through a Med Supply store. Here's a link to Dr. Leonards catalog online. They sell all kinds of things for the home that's good for AB people as well.

Ahhh....so glad we have a king size mattress!! It just has the pillow top cover...he has this system of these very flat pillows he places underneath him when he goes to bed (laying on his stomach) and then takes them out and flips over onto his back halfway into the night. I think it is more of habit than anything, back when he didn't have a nice mattress (don't sure what brand it is!)
But oh imagine Hapa...he is 6'8".... he no longer disturbs me when he flips over, because he has learned it isn't necessary to throw ALL the covers off when he flips!
We are in the process of looking for bedroom furniture...we want a sleigh bed SOOOO bad...but he's way too tall and MUST sleep with his feet off the bed. Oh well...we've found some pretty nice stuff without footboards!!

This has been very informative. And, I must include my two cents. I've tried a couple of beds over the years. I had a regular waterbed mattress (that giant plastic bladder-like thing) than when it springs a leak, or when the heater goes out, you'd been better off on a bed of nails. Then, I had the soft sided waterbed mattress that has about 20 individual baffle like bladders. Same thing though, not IF, but WHEN one leaks........you wake up completely miserable!! Now, I have a "posture-pedic" by Simmon's. It's okay, but still........I'm not that comfortable. Admittedly though, I do share a full sized bed with 2 Great Danes, but space is really not the issue. It's just not "the one".
I am in the market for a new mattress, so this has been helpful. A good one is not cheap either. It's important for me to have some sort of moisture barrier for the matress. I have been using some high mil clear plastic from Wal-mart. That's another ordeal all in it's own too! The plastic slips, it's cold in the winter & really hot in the summer. And, it makes "noises" whenever you move around (that could be embarassing IF I ever had anyone spend the night with me)
