Facing Life After Paralysis Whether Complete Or Incomplete, Do Males or Females cope better?

I'm gonna say guys do because of the advantages of the male anatomy. Guys have condom catheters available vs. female urinary pouches which don't stay put worth a darn. Finding the place to put the catheter is also a little more obvious for guys. java script:emoticon(':censored:', 'smid_16')


Guys also have more upper arm strength for pushing manual wheelchairs.

I think guys have it easier in a lot of ways in a wheelchair, but as far as coping, I think women are better at coping. I think in general, women are more flexible and often (sadly) more accepting of hardships without moaning. I remember in the hospital, the women deffo coped better than the men (the guys were always depressed and a lot of them acted bitter, but they had only just been hurt, so hopefully they got over that). I just think girls have better coping skills in general.

I voted female but honestly there should be a equal spot on there... I think women cope better up front with the initial accident from what I have seen in the hospital and rehab but for the long run us women way way way over think things and there for actually end up worse off emotionally. When it comes to physical issues strength goes to the men, they usually are more developed pre-accedent then women so women tend to have a harder time with mobility, transfers, etc... In rehab I was told (which I of course immidetely set out to change) that I didnt have the upper body strength to walk with long leg braces and that statistically men fair better with them then women. HA I still am working but it is true, we just lack the upper body structure that men have.

So all in all I think it's an even playing field and we both have our equal issues.
