Never say that something cannot be done, that you cannot do something or that something is not possible.Just Read on.This is a story of true inspiration and committment.
Good Afternoon,
Yesterday (7th November 2005) My Wife and I attended the departure Colin Javens "Driving Home" event.
All was in order and ready to go.The event was at the "Stoke Mandeville Spinal Injury Unit" just outside Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire UK.
The event was covered by many members of the Media services, including the BBC and ITV not to mention the newspapers and Local BBC radio station.
We originally met Colin and his team at the "Land Rover Enthusiast" event at Billing Aquadrome earlier this year.He is a smashing character, full of fun and never stops smiling ,we instantly took Colin and his cause to heart .
We promised him faithfully we would see him off on his epic journey..A world first. To date over £310,000 has been raised by Colin & his supporters commitment & perseverance.
Now he and his team are on their way and are a very excited bunch with a real adventure ahead of them !.
Colin will be speaking at the Ashburton conference, Jersey on the 10th of November 2005 shortly after he and his expedition team arrive in Jersey by "Condor Ferries" of whom provided their journey tickets for free. From Jersey they shall go to France and onward to Italy.
What is striking about this is the level of Disability Colin is a C5/C6 and his sheer determination is a true inspiration.
He is doing the driving all the way to Cape Town South Africa.Driving his specially adapted Land Rover Discovery and supported by his team you can follow his journey on his website.
Take a look and be inspired.(he certainly inspired us and my wife and I are able bodied).
Injury does not mean that your dreams cannot be achieved.
