My name is George.
I have a sister who was involved in a incident in Texas where she and her husband had another of many fights, but this time it progressed to her neck being broken. She has been a quad for over 4 months and the physicians are not expecting any more improvement than what she has shown so far.

We are told she is:
a quad for life,
still on a ventilator and not really expected to be ween'd off it,
able to speak,
on medicare and/or medicaid,
my big sister whom I love dearly.

The LARGE problem we are having is that we, the family, are trying to get her transfered to a long term facility in Tennessee near us, just long enough to have my home fitted for her special needs...ie: ramps, generators to keep electricity on for her vent machines, medical personel logistics and what ever else is necessary for her survival.

I am completely aware of the amount of work that is involved in her situation since I was previously employed as in-home caretaker of two 64 year old men (twins) with muscular dystrophy, albiet it has been about 10 years now, but she is family.

My wife and I are in agreement on this one reality.....if we have to move to a location to accomidate her, we will be more than happy to oblige.

I am not aware of any programs that she may be eligable for to have her transported to my area from another state to Tennesse or neighboring states and also am not aware of any temporary facilities to house her while my home (where ever we finally reside) is retrofitted for her needs, and also am not aware of what programs that might help in cost of the retrofit for her.
